TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a 30-day visa extension in Thailand, specifically for those on a tourist visa or visa-exempt entry, you can do it yourself with the necessary documents, which can vary by location (e.g., Phuket). Typically, it costs around 1,900 baht if you do it independently, but hiring an agent could increase the fee to approximately 6,000 baht. It's important to specify the type of visa you initially entered Thailand on and to know the correct immigration office to visit, as procedures can differ between offices.

Could someone explain which documents are needed/where to go for a visa exemption (on arrival 30 day) 30 day extension and a 60 day covid extension in Bangkok?

Thanks in advance.

visa exempt entries go to Muang Thong Thani. You’ll need copies of your passport data page, TM6 (white card) and entry stamp - all signed. You fill out a TM7 form there and you’ll need a passport size photo. Cost is 1,900 baht. Hit and miss if you’ll need proof of a TM30 filing. If you’re in a hotel ask them for a screenshot of them filing it for you.

I would also add to Make sure all your paperwork is done prior to arrival! I had all my stuff in order, but the blue-vested glasses guy at first desk decided he didnt like all my copies on one single page! Apparently this country loves to kill trees. MAKE SEPARATE COPIES OF ALL! Picture page, visa stamp and both sides of TM6. Otherwise you are banished to the “copy line” on the first floor which takes forever. My copy lady was very polite tho.

Plus I had the latest contract for my condo that I’m renting as well as a TM30 fully filled out just as a back up. neither were even asked for!

unfortunately they don’t like trees. Those on business visa extensions sometimes have to have 50+ pages of stuff, which is 99% of the same stuff they submitted for the past 20 years. Somewhere there is a ton of warehouses with those papers.

Thanks a lot Stuart. If Muang Thong Thani doesn’t grant me a 60 day covid extension, can I just try again at another office in let’s say Pattaya?

You can use another office but they’ll probably need a TM30 so you’d need to stay in a hotel and ask them for a screenshot of their filing.

Firstly, please explain what visa you arrived on. Then we can help with suggestions and also which immigration office you go to in Bangkok as some you go to MTT office and some you go to Division 1 Immigration office.

A visa extension off a tourist visa or visa exempt entry is easy to do yourself. Here’s a list of what you’d need in Phuket. Your local office may differ slightly.

You could pay an agent for doing it for you but you’d probably be looking at 6,000 baht rather than the 1,900 baht it actually costs.

If you can cut your own food up and tie your own laces you can do it yourself!

An agency will do it for 7500, you give them only passport, 2 photos, departure card. They will arrange the 60 days covid extension right away
