What is the best SIM card option for a 4-month stay in Thailand with a lot of data?

I will arrive in BKK on November 22nd. Normally I buy a 30 day SIM card from AIS at the airport. This; Because I never stayed longer than 30 days in a row. I then reactivated the card when I return after a month or a few weeks in another country. This time I come with a 6 month visa. So I can (and will) stay 4 months. (interupted halfway by 5 days Kuala lumpur.

Who gives me the best advice for a SIM card with a lot of data for about 4 months or longer?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around recommendations for SIM cards suitable for a 4-month stay in Thailand with a focus on value for data and calls. Several users suggest various options, including unlimited data plans from AIS, DTAC, and TrueMove, as well as mentions of E-SIMs. Key suggestions include purchasing a SIM at 7-11 or local stores rather than the airport to avoid high prices, considering packages like DTAC's unlimited data plan for 200 baht or AIS's 6-month plan with significant data allowances. The conversation also highlights the benefits of online ordering and loyalty to existing providers.

I recommend you buy a 6 month unlimited talk and net plan 6 mbps speed.

Get a 50baht sim at some shop like 711 when you land. You should get a few GB. The best deal after that is in my opinion f FINNMOBILE which operates on Dtac network. You can subscribe online with a scan of your passport. Sim is delivered by mail usually 2days later.

🤳🏻My plan is Finn Extreme : 60gb at 100mbps speed, 600minutes and unlimited data at 20mbps (which is still a nice speed and better than most packages suggested here) for 329thb

💸You can get 10thb discount per month with my link :

If U buy a new AIS SIM for 50thb they have a promo for 6 months 30gig for 200thb per month. But it looks like Dtac beats that.

Dtak 1 month unlimited data 200 baht
Paul ******
I use dtac same number for nearly 10 years just go in and pay them for the 4 months

AIS has a sim or package for 6 months at 1200, which works out 200 a month. It gives you 30gb a month

Do not buy anything in airports.

When arrived at the destination, ask which compagny covers best there.

Don’t forget that many places have free wifi, even some beaches.

True unlimited 20mb 500/month and 50% cash back gives free calls etc👍

Dtac sim is good. Monthly packages with plenty data for around 300 baht per month. Photo below, 50 gb 288 baht.

Personal I'm still using the AIS Sim from the airport and just top up the data, don't use calls or text much and if I do it's via WhatsApp, line etc, just top up data when I need to it's not expensive and been here for 6 months at the moment and it's still going strong. Don't over think it and enjoy your time 🙂

TrueMove 50GB per month is 200 baht. Renew via the app as you wish

This is the plan I have with AIS. $200 Baht per month. Fast internet and calls. Can't beat it. Been impressed with it for around $6 USD!

Dont buy ay airport, buy ordinary sim and analyse the available deals on the app.. Go for what's needed or just below, you get bombarded with deals when your limits are near.

@Martyn **********
go to the lower floor, better rates offered there

Download the AIS app to look at the plans.

180 days (6 month) data only plan.

6mbps speed, unlimited data.

Price: 1,800 THB

(*You can add a bit of extra credit for calls or add an extra call plan ontop)

We did AIS for 6 months unlimited and ended up being about $50 USD.

ซิมเทพ is what I use when visiting Thailand as I never know when I’d leave the country, you can order from shopee or Lazada . There are 3,6,&12 months one time prepaid and that gives me more then enough data. It also comes with free calling , that’s enough for me as I mostly use the internet. The price are from 5-600 to 2,000 whichever suited your needs.

I’m not selling it or have any gains but feel free to DM me if you’re not sure if what I mean. Can’t post it here as I do not sure if the group’s policies.

You can get these sim at any telephone store too, the prices is a bet higher though.

Compare a E-sim to sim card deal I know AIS do E-sim

Buy a sim on the bus to Pattaya?

If you buy on Shopee you can get good deals. AIS, 588B for 50GB/month for 3 months, 1,158B for 6 months.

Cheapest is NT Telecom with unlimited max speed for 6 months for 599B but this is data only (no calls) and coverage is not as good as AIS. I have used it as an internet backup as it really is unlimited and can tether. I get around 30Mbps down, but only 5 up at home in Chiang Mai.

There are data SIMs from True, DTAC and My as well. The best data deals are data SIMs on Shopee.

Knowing what kind of speed you need is always useful here in Thailand. Imho it's what makes all the differences price wise.
Ken ***********
I used adap for unlimited data every three months was 40 $ included 2000mins a month also
Kevin ******
Check all providers for best deal. I have AIS for 3 months at 450bht/mon

AIS 6 months at 6mbs 300 baht per month.

still expensive. FINNMOBILE is 329thb a month with 60gb at 100mbps then unlimited at 20mbps and 600min calls on top.

I went to 7-11 yesterday to get a new unlimited month,,,the lady wanted 2000thb,,,,but after arguing a bit another lady showed up and I payed about 350thb,,,,,Have True Move

can be confusing as so many packages available
Did *****
I guess it's on purpose, the pricing is stupid sometimes when you compare the packages (which often have low speed, who needs unlimited data at 512kbps ? 🤣).I ended up with FINNMOBILE.

@Did ****
if on holiday and you only need a sim to call a taxi or check a route low speed and cheap is ok, as majority of planning i do evening before using hotel wifi, each situation is different so great to have a choice
Did *****
@Sylvia *******
Sure , everybody's situation is different :) It's really a headache to navigate the offers when you arrive here for your first stay/holiday. For holidays I would strongly advise to never buy a tourist SIM but rather start with the Dtac happy combo sim (for those not in the know, prices on app for topups are always mentioned without tax, so add 7%)
Dover **********
used to get from 7-11 take your passport, they do it all for you, if they still do cheaper a lot cheaper 😉
Stephen ********
Just use the sim you've been using as it sounds like you're happy enough with it, just top up every 30 days like you did when leaving for a few days and coming back. Only this time you're not leaving. And you get to keep your number, and LINE account if it's attached to that number
Jo **********
just use data roaming on your home phone
Sylvia ********
@Jo *********
if you have endless cash yes great
Jo **********
@Sylvia *******
well it’s not that expensive the rates have dropped drastically over the past 5 years
Sylvia ********
@Jo *********
but can have unlimited data for 300 per month

Back in Britain friends pay about 800 for that plus roaming?
Jo **********
@Sylvia *******
I now have a second separate Thai phone. But I was paying a data a rate up to a certain maximum of about 1000 month for data roaming
Thaimer ******
These 30 day’s packages reactivate for another 30 days if you have enough amount on your account
Steve *******
I bought a DTac eSIM sim from the mall for around 1200 - 1500 thb for a year service unlimited data. Just top it up when needed.
