Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice on the best long-term visa for Thailand.

I’m Dutch and previously stayed in Thailand for around 6 months, including two visa runs. On my last re-entry, immigration took me aside for some additional questions but eventually let me enter.

I’m currently back in the Netherlands and want to return with a proper long-term visa — ideally multiple entry, easy/quick to apply for, and with a good chance of approval.

Which visa would you recommend? And does anyone have experience with a reliable visa agent who can help with the process?

Thanks! 🙏🏼

I often wonder why many people ask for agencies or why many commenters refer to agencies also. I joined this group a few weeks before I did the paperwork for the DTV myself. I scrolled through posts of people who succeeded (with the group search tool). I took notes what is neccessary, what helpful and what need to be avoided. Created a to do list and worked it through, put the docs into pdf's in appropiate sizes, including some selfies at airport and travel destination in Hanoi, applied from hotelroom. Waited five days and got approved. I kept the money for an agency for myself. I am surely not a genius. It's doable and easy for most people.

To answer your question, Ronald, you didn’t mention your business background. I’m assuming you don’t need to work or have a business that needs to keep operating while you’re in Thailand.

If that’s the case, it really comes down to how bulletproof your documentation is. I’ve seen business owners get denied for the DTV even though they had more than enough money in the bank and a very profitable business. At the same time, others applied through the Soft Power route for Muay Thai or cooking classes and were approved, even though they listed themselves as “unemployed” during the application process (myself included).

I took a lot of notes from this group, like I said...especially from three very detailed approval posts here. One was from a businessman, one from a remote worker at a large company, and one from someone attending Muay Thai classes. That was basically the information I used as a reference, and I ultimately applied through the Muay Thai route.

So, if your remote-work documentation isn’t particularly strong, I’d recommend going the Soft Power route - either Muay Thai or Thai cooking. It may be the simpler and safer option and spare you some headaches. Hope this helps <3

If you only need 6 months the metv. Multiple entry tourist visa is easy. 60 day stamp that can be extended 30 days or restamped with border runs

Hey! You can apply for DTV. It gives you a five year Visa.

Hi! Based on your situation, it may be worth looking at the DTV or METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa).

The best option depends on your purpose of stay, intended length of stay, financial situation, and supporting documents.

I’m with Wichy Legal (Thailand) Co., Ltd. We assist foreigners with Thai visa applications and can review your situation to determine which visa is the most suitable and how to prepare the application properly.

Feel free to send me a private message with some details about your situation, and we can analyse which option fits you best.

Je kan voor een DTV gaan op workation. 5 jaar geldig, multiple entry. Een aantal eisen qua financiële middelen maar prima te doen. Wij hebben dit visum ook, gewoon zelf gedaan zonder agent.

If you want to stay 6 months METV is a good option. If you want to stay longer than that I would suggest dtv or elite visa
