I’ve booked flights for December but will be there for 31 days. Booked before the visa change came into force. What’s going to happen when I leave because it’s more than 30days.
Answer summary
A traveler who booked a flight for 31 days in Thailand is concerned about the implications of overstaying their visa by one day due to recent changes in visa regulations. Comments suggest that while one day may result in a fine of 500 baht or more, it is generally manageable. However, some airline policies might refuse boarding if the visa does not cover the entire intended stay. Many advise applying for a tourist visa to avoid complications and ensure a stress-free travel experience.

500 ,฿ fine if anything. Normal no fine under 24 hours
Dean Giles some airlines can refuse boarding so personally i wouldnt risk it - regardless of what thailand do for an overstay , id rather physically get there :)
i am a travel agent seen it happen many times over the years when people dont have visa for the duration of their holiday/flight ....they can and will be refused boarding depending on airline :) not worth the stress - no brainer for me
Let’s be honest here, instead of the wannabe technocrats. At the very worst you’ll get charged 500 baht for 1 day overstay, but, they may well be a little lenient through the first several months after a big change like this. You could go up to immigration in Changwattana and waste several hours and pay 1900 for an extension, or maybe at 500 at the airport and enjoy your last day. A one-day overstay won’t have any effect on your ability to return. As they like to say here, “up to you.” Addendum, there is one level of worse that can yield all kinds of levels worse, and that is gettin stopped by the police and having them check your passport. The likelihood of this happening is pretty slim, you’d have to be acting on some way to really piss some people off, riding a scooter without a helmet or recklessly. So don’t do that. DonMt do anything stupid in front of any police officers, donMt done and dash, be respectful, and you should be ok.
Jonathan Seraphim No, the very worst is that he gets stopped by police while on the one day overstay, you need to read all of this and understand the possible consequences of overstay before giving advice on the subject especially when you think you know what is the worst thing that can happen.
Graham Seal I’ll accept that’s the very worst, but the likelihood is not very high. In over 12 years of living in Thailand I have never once been stopped by the police. You pretty much have to be acting like a complete ass, in which case you deserve the worst that can happen…
If it was me and I knew beforehand that I’m going to be in Thailand for 31 days then to negate any future problems I’d get a visa that covers the 31 days.
Peter Benjamin Parker 100%. I spoke to Emirates today and was told they "could" refuse boarding if stay was over the visa waiver.
Tv online is a real ballache. Took me over an hour to apply today. A mate did his yesterday and has received an email asking to resubmit all attachments!
1 day over is no fine ...not a problem relax and enjoy your holidays ....no problem for future travels ...visitors often have problems caused by flight cancellations , accidents etc.....do not worry
You will be liable for a fine of 500 baht for each day over 30. For a day or two they don’t normally charge but it will be recorded. It could impact on future visas.
Ralph Tyson . . . Two mistakes in your reply . . . . . . there is no fine for overstay under 24 hours. But from the second day on, ALWAYS a 500 THB fine for every day. And it just doesn't have any impact on your future entries, unless you are misusing touristic entries for a longstay
Ralph Tyson I was 5 days over by accident once. Paid fine. 2500 ฿ . When I went for non O retirement they said it makes no difference. Would have no impact on my visa application.
