What would be the best way to start working on a 90 day tourist visa before I leave my home country (USA) for Thailand? Should I apply on the official website for the 30 day extension (60 days total), or should I not worry about it and simply use a visa agency once I land?

I did see on the official website they required exit flight information for the 60 day period and since I planning for the 90 day total, I wanted to ask here before purchasing anything.

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a 90-day tourist visa for Thailand, you must apply for it before traveling from the USA. The only way to secure 90 days as a tourist is by applying for a visa via the Thai embassy or consulate in the USA; otherwise, you'll only receive a 60-day visa on arrival. It is advisable to visit the official Thai online e-visa site to find the appropriate embassy or consulate and follow the application procedures.

The ONLY way you can get 90 days as a tourist is if you apply for a tourist visa before you travel. Otherwise you'll be able to get 60 days maximum.

So apply for the 60 day before traveling there and then when I land, apply for the 30 day extension?

Would you have recommendations on the cheapest throwaway flight or exit travel to purchase? Bus or flight to Cambodia?

no, you don't apply for the extension when you land. You'll have to wait 15 or 30 days, and sometimes longer depending on which province you'll be applying for your extension in.

Just google "onward travel ticket" and you'll get many options for a ticket.
