Thanks to those who enlightened me as to what the METV and SETV are. I see that fir tge METV you have to provide proof evidence of residence in country you are applying from. What woukd they look for. I am retired and live with my daughter. I gave her my property so I have nothing in my name. I have a bank account, pension, car insurance and a utility bill in my name at my dsughter's house. Would this be sufficient?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the requirements for applying for a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) and Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) in Thailand, especially for individuals applying from abroad. Key points include the need for proof of residence in the country of application, with the consensus being that a passport from the home country suffices if applying from that country. In the case of the user, who is a retired Irish citizen living with their daughter, they are advised that providing their Irish passport along with utility bills, a bank account statement, and other evidence may be sufficient. The user is also clarified that they must apply from Ireland and that their flight to Thailand should originate from there.

If you are in Ireland, and supply your Irish passport number, you will be fine. Do note that your flight to Thailand must also originate from Ireland.

I am a passpirt holder of Ireland. We do not have residency cards. I have neither work as i am on pension (payable outside Ireland) or any means of showing I will want or need to return

I believe Irish citizens also have an automatic right of residence in the UK also so I think you could also apply from there.

you can only get the METV in a country where you are a Passport holder of or have legally recognized Proof of a Residency permit in said Country (I.E: a Residency card issued via a customs office in said country)...

just take a trip back to the country you are a Passport holder of or have legal residency in and apply there that is the only way to do it......

SETV you can apply at any Thai Embassy/Consulate cost is 1,900 THB

As long as your flight to Thailand is originating from your passport country you are fine.

They're looking for resident rights so if you apply from your own country your passport would suffice. If you apply from another country then a resident card or similar, they're not looking for proof of address.

Passport should be enough
