I arrived with a 60 day tourist visa and would like to get a retirement visa. I am due for a trip to Vientiane for other purposes and thought I might as well apply for the non o visa there. Any direction on what documents to prepare in advance of my trip up north tomorrow? I do have 800k in a Thai bank for requisite time, I carry international health insurance from Thai Aetna, I own a condo in Pattaya for 13 years. I am a professional consultant not working in Thailand but often in and out of the country, from USA.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on the necessary documents to prepare for applying for a Non-O retirement visa at the Thai Consulate in Vientiane, given their current possession of a 60-day tourist visa, sufficient bank funds, health insurance, and a long-term property ownership in Thailand.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
GO to the Jomtien Immigration office and ask them how you can apply for an in country 90 day Non-O visa based on being over 50.
They require 21 days left on your current entry stamp I believe to do the conversion from a single entry tourist visa or a 30 day visa exempt entry or a 30 day extension from one of those.
There is no background check, no medical certificate no proof of insurance doing that.
the problem is they require you to be in country while they send your passport to Bangkok. I am on the move I can't wait around for such processes. So I will head to vientiane to apply for the non o.
thanks... I will go to the tourist police station to see if they can help on the criminal check. any advice on the medical check? can I do the same as I did for a Thai drivers license? a trip to the local clinic for them to give me a look over?
aha... option 3 is what I understand I need as I do not wish to return to my country to deal with this. 90 Day Single Entry Non-Immigrant Type O Visa & a Yearly Extension of Stay
3 ) a 90 day single entry Non-Immigrant Type O visa (gotten either inside thailand OR from a thai consulate).
I also am not fully sure of the terms... but there is a visa called the retirement visa for those 50 years and older which gives 1 year in duration. It may be called the non o? If I understand correctly the non o is first a 3 month visa then you apply for the 1 year visa... maybe also a non o
I understand I apply for the non O first then convert to retirement visa? I did see the criminal record check on the website. how would I go about getting that? My record is clean BTW...
