today I went to Chiang Mai Immigration to change my Non-O Visa for marriage (exp sept 27) to a 60 day extension due to COVID. this is a follow up from my previous inquiries here, as i was unable to renew or file divorce because my husband is refusing.
i took copies of all the usual passport pages including my tm30
i filled out 4 forms for the extension request which required:
Tm47 (plus photo)
Extension due to covid form
acknowledgement of Overstay form
some other form I forget but was something about extension
All paperwork was looked over by staff (volunteers?) in an area outside the building after my queue number had been called.
i was approved and sent inside to the front desk where my paperwork was checked again. the staff asked me why i wasn't just renewing my marriage visa. i said i was worried i wouldn't have the paperwork done in time. he said ok but that i needed more paperwork:
original and copy of marriage certificate
a new KOR 2 form from the amphur office to prove that my marriage was "still in good standing"
copy of my husband's ID
copy of housebook
i asked if my husband had to be with me when i returned and he said no.
I left and came back with those documents and was given a queue number that read "non-O". When my number was called I was taken into the back and sat down with the officer. he went through all the documents. I told him i was applying for an extension because i was worried my paperwork wouldn't be ready. he asked me where my husband was. i said at work.
he called someone over and asked if he was able to change my visa and they talked and the answer came back as yes.
the officer then gave me back all the paperwork i had left that morning to bring back.
he asked me to show him a map of my house/address.
he then stamped my papers and asked for 1900thb and said wait outside.
then as per usual i was asked for a photograph and then given my passport and receipt.
i have an under consideration stamp to return on oct 6 when i am assuming i will be given the extension. hopefully with no more concerns regarding my non-o visa.
thanks again for all the assistance from this group. hope this helps someone who might be in a similar unusual situation.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user successfully extended their Non-O visa for marriage after a visit to Chiang Mai Immigration. Initially, they faced challenges due to incomplete documentation and the fact that their husband was unavailable. After providing the necessary paperwork, including a marriage certificate, a KOR 2 form, and copies of their husband's ID, they were informed that they could apply for the extension even without their husband present. After processing, they received an under consideration stamp to return on October 6 for finalizing the extension. The community comments emphasize the ease of obtaining the visa extensions and provide support for future visits.
