good morning. I have a friend who wants to do a 30-day extension of stay. an agent is telling him that he has to show up at the appointment. what is the logic of using an agent if you have to go anyway? is it really necessary for the applicant to go to immigration when using an agent?. thank you for helping and I appreciate the advice

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a 30-day extension of stay in Thailand, it is generally unnecessary to use an agent since applicants must appear in person at the immigration office regardless of whether an agent is involved. Various commenters suggest that the process can be straightforward and merely requires filling out forms, providing a photo, and paying a fee. However, some agents may expedite the process or accommodate specific local office requirements. Ultimately, while agents can provide convenience, they are not essential for this type of visa extension.

show up with your passport and the blue receipt. That's it. And you'll get the rest of the days of the initial extension you requested. We don't know how many that is based on what you've said.
.. thank you so much. it's my friend's first time in Thailand and he is figuring out the system. I'm trying to help but I'm not on that type of Visa so the help is greatly appreciated from the people on this page.
Many offices will want to take a photo of you as part of the application process which is why you have to go in person. Unusual to do so for a 30 day extension, but each office have their own rules.
As stated by others you really don’t need an agent for a 30 day extension. Fill in one form, copy a few pages of your passport, have a photo and 1,900 baht.
lol I believe agent will ask a photo on a4 paper and immigration office will take a photo using that photo to pretend u a there lol they did it for other while I am waiting my visa extend
Just go to immigration, fill out the paperwork pay ฿1,900 and wait most likely all day for your extension to be placed in your passport…no agent is needed
