Got my retirement visa extension valid until 30. September 2026. multiple entries.

I guess it kicks in after my current non-O 90 days visa expires.

Timeline:

4. July 2025. Friday: consultation, paperwork, copies at Thai Visa Center, payment (1 hour)

7. July Monday - opening bank account. TVC staff was at the bank branch to assist (TVC car picked me up, 40 minutes at the bank, brought me back home)

8. July Tuesday - processing

9. July Wednesday - my passport with 1 year retirement extension and multiple entries and my bank passbook in my hands( My ATM card was with me when I left the bank). A messenger delivered passport and bank passbook about noon.

It was very quick, possibly, I got lucky and was within a batch of other applicants that they process once a week or in 10 days

Absolutelly great service by Thai Visa Center.

How much did the agent charge you for this? I paid 1900 + 1900 thb for all of this by doing it on my own. I speak fluent Thai out of respect to Thai people and culture. Agent ofc can be useful for some 🙏

I will do it myself second time around. May even let my current "Retirement Visa" expire and do it anew. First time, there were so many things (to get a yellow book for my address, the condo I own) may take a month. Without it, and Immigration certification of residence, could not open a bank account even while on a 90 days "O" visa.

For the next turn, July 2026, I will have it all ready, even 3 months from now.

If need do a ‘play by play’, probably time to get a girlfriend or a dog. (btw) in Thailand, a girlfriend would be cheaper.

take a stray dog. There are aplenty.

Try doing it yourself first time and you will see.

Kindly noted: so using Thai Visa Centre actually made it possible that you were able to apply for the 1-year extension based on retirement from up to 53 days (!!) before your current 90 days stay permit expired. People who do it by themselves normally need to wait until 30 days are left on the 90 days stay permit (in Bangkok andChiang Mai up from 45 days) before theycan apply for the extension. Well, the extra 23 days don't change a jota of the result, as for everybody, the extension always begins on the day after the expiry of the 90-days stay permit

What all does an agent handle for you?

Let me add this: no document had to be translated into Thai. It is me going for retirement, not my Thai wife.

My documents were: Australian passport, Japan Taxx File Number, Japan ID or driving licence showing my current address. We had condo ownership document in my name, in Thai, not sure if they needed it, they did not ask for other residence document.

Fyi, you got your permission to stay extended,not your visa.

there was a foundation during COVID and the volunteers lived all over Thailand doing nothing. Anyway the agent was getting stamps from many different provinces and many people struggled to get out from that foundation to get a new visa. Anyway one day you might have a problem.

Oh, as if have not known that.

Does it matter?

@Jim ******
well if you live in one province and get a stamp in another province it can lead to issues.

why? Please explain...

@Jim ******

TVC has had 100,000 clients like me, if you were right, it would have hit the media long ago. The only issue is that one may have their passport out of their sight for a period of time. To me, it was 1 business day. In Japan, to get my bio page certified (for taking my Superannuation out from Australia) I had to send my physical passport to Tokyo and it came back 2 weeks later.

@Patrizio *******
Yes, the office I went to is at Bang Na - Trat Road, about 15 mins from my BKK home, including U-turn (from my place).

A gentleman from Chiang Mai was with me, same service, he must have done the admin work remotely.
