What documents do I need when applying for a DTV from the UK while holding a non-immigrant O spouse visa in Thailand?

I am currently living in Thailand on a non-immigrant O spouse visa. I plan on applying for a DTV 6-months before the end of my current non-immigrant O as this is the only time I will be in another country for long enough for the application process. A few questions:

1) I see on the document list I need a 'Document Indicating Current Location.' Does that mean Thailand or UK?

2) Assuming it means the UK, what kind of document would that be e.g. a bank statement with my parent's UK address on?

3) Am I correct in thinking I can't start the application process before I leave Thailand?

4) Do I need to do something to cancel my non-immigrant visa or will it auto cancel when I get my new DTV?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is on a non-immigrant O spouse visa in Thailand and plans to apply for a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) 6 months prior to the expiration of their current visa. They have questions concerning the application process, particularly about the document indicating their current location, the timing of the application, visa cancellation, and the implications of switching visas. Responses clarify that the document must show their location when applying, typically requiring proof of the UK address if applying from there. They can start the DTV application online but cannot submit it until physically in the UK. Lastly, it is highlighted that their non-immigrant visa will not automatically cancel, but their extension will become invalid without a re-entry permit if they leave Thailand.

If you have a Thai bank account , may have to close yr account as DTV is consider a tourist visa whfn asks to update yr status in thailand.

thanks. why would my bank ask me to update my status? I’ve had my Thai bank accounts for almost 20 years across numerous visas and times when I’ve not even been living in Thailand but appreciate there have been changes recently.

Lately ,lots of changes. You can ask around with regards to banking process/requirement.Not all will be affected though.Tourist visa definately a no no.

1) It means a document showing you are in the country you claim to be when filing the application. You must file through the Thai embassy where you physically are. So normally you would give the entry stamp from your passport showing that you entered the country.

2) Are you planning on going back to the UK just to file this application? If yes, then you need something with your address, like you say, bank statement, utility bill, drivers license, etc

3) You can start the application on the e-visa portal, but you cannot submit it until you're in the country you are applying through.

4) You will not be on any visa. You will be on an extension. If you do not purchase a re-entry permit your extension will become invalid when you leave Thailand.

#4 not the response he was looking for. I.e. he is currently using agents an elite visa or an o visa …does it automatically cancel when he gets a DTV

Thanks for your responses. On point 4 I already have a multi-entry stamp linked to my extension. Therefore my visa will not be invalid when I leave. Do I need to do anything in relation to that visa when I get my DTV?

Also I assume I can arrange a multi entry stamp in relation to my DTV or is that not required for this type of visa?

people have reported not having issues in the past. Just make sure you tell them you want you enter with your DTV.

DTV is already a multiple entry visa. You can't get a re-entry permit.

Great. Super helpful thank you. After years of suffering the Non-Imm spousal process this sounds almost impossibly easy relatively speaking. Hopefully I am not being overconfident!!

I haven’t even been in 30 days on my non o based on marriage and I’m already considering switching to a DTV, it’s insane. You read about it, but going through it is another matter. Pure insanity.
