What are the steps to get the affidavit for proof of divorce at the US Embassy in Thailand, and can my partner accompany me?

I am coming to BKK and have a US embassy appointment for the affidavit for proof of divorce. Mine will have to be officially translated. Plus, I believe I need official copies of my passport. She has also been divorced and must do the same. As I understand it, her papers are for the Thai Ministry, not the US Embassy. The steps for the whole process seem a bit confusing. Can she come with me to the Embassy or will I only gain entry? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We have 3 weeks to pull the whole thing off.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is preparing for a marriage in Thailand and needs an affidavit from the US Embassy to prove divorce. They plan to have the affidavit officially translated and understand their partner must also prepare divorce papers for the Thai Ministry. The user is uncertain if their partner can accompany them into the embassy. Comments from others indicate that while one can attend the embassy, typically only the applicant is allowed inside during the appointment.

If the appointment isn’t for her she will have to wait outside the embassy. Hell, when my wife was getting her fiancé visa they wouldn’t let me in with her and I’m the American.

Be very aware that if you check divorced on the right to marry affidavit you will also need to show your official divorce paperwork. Most just check never been married so they don't have to deal with paperwork they no longer have, or didn't bring with them. No one checks.

Interesting. I've been married twice. Once was ages ago. I wonder if I'll need both documents?

just the last set of divorce papers, if you choose that option, and translated into Thai. I'm not sure if that set of divorce documents must also be certified by the ministry of foreign affairs as being an accurate translation, as the right to marry notarized document must be.

I did the same at the UK Embassy to start the marriage process (Affirmation to Marry and Passport verification) prior to translations. In my case my girlfriend (as was) accompanied me. You seem to know the steps but this is the guide I used (although it cannot now be done in one day),

Thank you very much. My biggest struggle has been finding someone to ask questions.
