What documents are needed for a DTV visa extension at Chaeng Wattana for a newborn's parents?

DTV extension / cheang wattana

Hello

I have a DTV remote worker. I recently give birth and have the Thai birth certificate (non Thai) and still don't have the passport for my new born + hospital bills + coming appointments (vaccine etc)... I would like to avoid to have to do a border run and wonder if anyone went to chaeng wattana asking what they require to extend ? I can produce up to date docs for the visa + all the documents above explaining why the extension would really be helpful... Anyone has any experience with chaeng wattana / cases when border run isn't convenient at all?

Thanks and happy songkran all!

I had the same situation with our newborn. Luckily his passport came before our 6 month stamp expired and we were able to leave together but if it didn't my wife and I were planning to leave separately, taking turns to look after the baby in Thailand.

I specifically traveled before giving birth to avoid this situation. But things are taking waaaay longer than expected (getting passport).

I would say try to get the extension, if they would rather you do a border bounce and come back the same day. Could you leave your baby for a few hours with a nanny or something you know/trust?

I not understand what his visa has to do with it.

Father makes a 1 day border run, mother and child stay at home,

next day mother makes a 1 day border run, father and child stays home.

Why does everything have to be spelled out for DTV holders?

good point, I didn’t even consider that as my situation is different from OP and that wouldn’t have been ideal for us.

All these are food for thought for OP to make the best decision for her and her family.

DTV_BegpackerYou clearly don't know anything about children, which is OK but why bother commenting in that case.

She needs an extension

The baby needs a passport

An overstay is not a good thing on your record

The father can look after the child for a few hours in the hotel or be in Bangkok for a day

It’s not rocket science it’s called being a functioning adult with the added responsibility of being a parent

Sorry not sorry

DTV_Begpacker You certainly do not sound like an adult 😅. More like a teenager that has never seen a baby up close, but likes to argue.

Thanks but no point to continue talking with this person. Yes there are solutions if an extension is not possible but another person nicely confirmed that chaeng wattana do proceed these extensions and I much prefer going to the immigration a few hours than flying internationally etc (much longer, need to plan for potential delays etc). It is also cheaper.

DTV_Begpacker She cannot as her baby does not have a passport yet. She cannot leave a newborn in Thailand while she leaves the country.
