Applying for extension based on having a thai child today at Chang Wattana. Provided all documents requested on the list of documents required. Advised I needed a photo of my son OUTSIDE his school. Already provided receipts showing all school fees paid on school paper and a letter on school paper confirming attendance with colour photo. Perhaps a good idea to put that on the list of documents required !

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster shares their experience applying for a visa extension based on having a Thai child at Chang Wattana. They provided all required documents but were unexpectedly asked for a specific photo of their son outside his school, which they had not anticipated. They suggest that such a requirement should be clearly stated on the list of necessary documents.

did they take your paperwork, your fee and at least give you the 30 day under consideration stamp telling you to bring the photo back in a couple days or just wouldn't take the application?

Yep, that is a common request, and usually you need to have your child in their school uniform standing in front of the sign AT the school with you
