A bill with your address. An entry stamp if you're in a foreign country.

Colin Watson DL from where? Thai DL requires some steps before you ca get it. I have it.

Backpackers can get Thai DL but with some hurdles with Thai Immigration (like TM30, certificate of residence).

With my Thai Yellow Book on my condo, Thai Pink ID for foreigners, I got my Thai DL within 10 minutes, converted from my IDP (issued in Japan) and my Japan DL, no translations.
