TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the requirement of having a return flight booked when applying for a Thai visa. Many users confirm that it's common for various countries to require proof of a return ticket, including Thailand. However, comments clarify that for specific visas like the NON-O family visa, it's not necessary to show a return ticket; just an intended date of departure is sufficient. There's also advice regarding the online visa application process, with suggestions to consider booking an onward travel ticket if needed.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
  • Join the Thai Visa Advice Facebook Group to ask your questions, and get advice from others.

How long does the e visa take to receive?

@Angela **********
From the London Embassy usually less than 5 days

Just because they ask for your date of departure doesn't mean they expect return ticket. I just got mine and they don't require

it's okay to have a pre-booked ticket for your planned flight to Thailand. However for the application to a Non-Imm-O family visa, you do not have to show a return ticket. READ what it says on the application screen: "intended date of departure" - which means you only need to tell them a date which lies within the first 90 days you will get stamped in

Best to do everything within Thailand. This online visa system can reject your application for the most trivial detail

did you have to get yellow fever vaccination? Just curious. . I was looking at my vaccination card and I had it for Zambia years ago.
John *******
@Lynnette ******
don’t need yellow fever vaccination for Zambia
Lynnette *******
@John ******
I wouldn't have had it if it wasn't required. We lived in the Middle East, Zambia, Libya and travelled in between.
John *******
@Lynnette ******
yeah, still not making sense.
Lynnette *******
@John ******
not sure why you keep asking about my vaccination. Or why it has to make sense to you. It was back in the 60s, we had to have what the UN told us to have.
John *******
@Lynnette ******
No, I was just curious as an infectious disease epidemiologist. But now it makes sense, if you are talking about 60+ years ago.
Lynnette *******
@John ******
yes, it was a long time ago. I'm old. Lol. But we had to comply with what the UN told us to get, my father worked for them. I only recently found my yellow vaccine booklet showing I'd had YF vaccination, I'd forgotten about it.
John *******
@Lynnette ******
- ok, so you are highlighting policy from 50 years ago.
Lynnette *******
@John ******
I was just chatting to Michael about having had YF, because I'd had mine at some point. Not highlighting policy, just chit chat.
John *******
Lynnette *******
@John ******
we did back then. I've still got the UN Vax book.
John *******
@Lynnette ******
actually, it depends on where you are before entering Zambia.
John *******
@Lynnette ******
back when? I have a UN vax book, but several years after working in Zambia, when I needed to be in Senegal
Michael ********
@Lynnette ******
yes for entry in and return into Thailand
Lynnette *******
@Michael *******
I wonder how long the vaccination lasts for. Mine is ancient. But maybe like TB it's got longevity.
Michael ********
@Lynnette ******
They say if you have injection twice dont need it again, but lost my old card and new ones only got the one. Expires next year
Lynnette *******
@Michael *******
I looked it up and it says one vaccination can be lifelong. Not really relevant for me now. I was just curious. 😊

Most Thai embassies require you to have your flight already as part of your application for a visa.
