Can anyone first-hand recommend a company that offers an 'in Thailand' DTV application service? I've reached out to some advertisements, but they don't all pass the legitimacy test. Thank you.
Summary so far
The user is seeking recommendations for trustworthy companies that provide Direct-to-Visa (DTV) application services while living in Thailand. They have encountered challenges verifying the legitimacy of various service providers. The discussion includes opinions on different visa types, particularly NON-O vs NON-OA visas, and highlights the complicated nature of the visa application process in Thailand. Several comments also offer general advice on visa applications, experiences with immigration in Thailand, and comparisons with U.S. immigration procedures.

Thanks for posting. So it appears that with a non immigrant oa visa you can have a dependent spouse. I think that is a good thing to know which i hadnt heard of before.

It sure looks like the Thais don’t want any immigrants living there just tourists so they spend more money.

You need the right connections, surely after 10 years there you have plenty to draw on. Eg a friend in immigration Or use a reputable agent. All your problems will disappear. In future make sure and get things in writing in these situations.

This is not the first time I have heard Tokyo hand out a TR when the applicant requested another visa type. Have heard same stories on DTV.

Result of stupidly complicated visa processing, Thailand do one 10 years visa ( permanent residencycard) , make it simple like we have it in the U.S.A. no confusion, no worry about immigration bureaucracy, leaving country as we please, not any stupid permits e.t.c.

Based on my own experience, I don’t agree that US immigration is purely standardized or free from officer-level discretion. Yes, there are written rules and appeal/escalation paths, but individual officers can and do affect the outcome, timing, and handling of cases. I had a US immigration matter handled so poorly that I had to involve a senator’s office. So while the US may have more formal accountability than some systems, it is not accurate to suggest there is no “immigration BS” or that officers simply follow the paper exactly every time. Also, a 3-week work permit may have happened in some unusual case or time period, but it is not a believable general standard that anyone should count on.

Because you are a moderator you presume to know anything? Yes, simple like the US. Follow the law, do it properly and you are in for 10 years and you don't have to go to immigration all the time like in Thailand. I guess the joke's on you.

Petr S. Van Valkenburg I don't think there many countries just let IO just make up rules by the mood of the day. No national standard like Japan where rules are followed by what is printed on paper. Not every thing in grey area. In America it can take some time but at least there is accountability by each officer to follow rules and procedures. I just use agency because I can't stand the run around..

I am naturalized U.S. citizen, went through process my self and now my new Thai wife went through the same process too, took her 10 months to get immigrant visa and green card on arrival, my process was simple too, I came on 10 years tourist visa with 6 months stamp and got married , within 3 weeks I had work permit for 6 months and started working than I renewed one times and received green card within 10 months!! No immigration BS , permanent residency, not 90 days reporting and annual renewal and permission from government to leave country to see my family!!!

I'm married to a Thai and have spent YEARS dealing with the US immigration system. Not a SINGLE thing about it is easy.

It took over a year just to get my spouse to the US. Whereas someone wanting to move to Thailand and live can do so TOMORROW. So please continue telling us how simple immigration is for the US.

Sadly, because you let the previous visas/extensions lapse, this method of "dependant non-O" is no longer available to new applicants. What age is your wife?

I looked into this

Appears it’s not possible on non o. I’ve asked a few embassies

You need non oa. All this information is confusing to say the least.
