Hi, I will be applying for an O retirement visa 20+ days before my current visa runs out. What document do I need to show proving I have transferred 800k from abroad to a Thai bank, an updated bank book or statement?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To support your application for an O retirement visa in Thailand, you will need to provide proof that you have transferred 800,000 baht from abroad to a Thai bank. The necessary documents include an updated bank book and a letter from your bank confirming the balance. Additionally, to verify the origin of the funds, you should also obtain a "credit advice" document from your bank, which shows that the money came from abroad. This proof is only required for the initial Non-O visa application, not for subsequent extensions. It's also advised to deposit a small amount (e.g., 100 baht) on the same day you update your bank book to ensure it displays the correct date.

If I were you I would establish a different money market account at a different bank and just leave ฿803k there.

If you commingle, you risk dropping below the acceptable balance.

I use Revolut & Wise as my other accounts.

Make sure you deposit 100 baht the same day before you update your bank book, so it shows that days date balance.

My friend was having his money from his pension coming in every month and then he had one month paid to his x wife so he paid that into his bank and was told by Jontiem that he did not qualify as he missed one month. He is from the USA and lived here for 5 years so be careful

To show that the funds came from abroad, your bank should be able to give you a paper that's usually called a "credit advice" - it's separate from the bank book and bank letter, which you also need. (The proof that the money was transferred from overseas is only needed for the initial Non -O application, not for any subsequent extensions.)

Yes. Does the 800k show as an international transfer? That's the important thing

so , I am applying for retirement visa soon. My funds came from my wife’s Thai bank account. Should I transfer more funds from my uk bank account to qualify?

You should probably ask the immigration office where you plan to apply. The rules say the money is supposed to have come from abroad, but I understand that officers can waive that if the funds have already been in Thailand a long time. This may not work, since they may see it as your wife's money, not yours, but it's worth asking before you go to the trouble of transferring more - the worst that can happen is that they'll say no.

Funds must be shown as coming from overseas. Usually the FTT code in your bank book will suffice

I’ve just sent another 800thb from uk to Thai bank account. Balance is now 1.7 million bht. I hope this doesn’t confuse the issue. Do you think it’s ok to use this Thai account day to day to day as long as balance remains over 800,000 thb ?

I did mine in koh phangan. I need to show updated bank book and letter from bank confirming the balance.
