Hello! Basic question for the brains trust here. What do these dates actually mean?

1. The expiry date on the visa sticker in my passport

2. The date of the stamp in my passport when I came through immigration at the Airport.

Thanks everyone. ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The expiry date on the visa sticker indicates the last date you can enter Thailand using that visa. The stamp date from immigration tells you how long you can stay in Thailand once you've entered. If you enter Thailand right before your visa expiry, you can extend your stay for another year under certain conditions.

If you re-enter Thailand just before the visa expiry date you will be stamped in for another year (assuming you have the insurance requirement) thereby getting 2 years out of that visa. Once the visa has expired and if you want to leave Thailand, you would need to buy a re-entry permit to keep your year stamp alive.

1 - the last date you can ENTER thailand on that visa (sticker or PDF) and get IN to the country on it

2 - the date you can stay IN thailand until.

@Maryanne *******
you show proof you have insurance for another year when you stamp in or you get stamped in only until your current policy expires

thankyou so much ... what does number 4 mean for multiple entries when it refers to 6 / 12 month?
Tod *********
@Maryanne *******
if you have a Non-Immigrant type visa (other than an OA or OX) that is a year-long multi-entry you can come in and out all you want for the year the visa is valid for and get 90 days each entry

AND

If you have a 6 month (METV) Multi Entry Tourist Visa you can come in and out all you want for the 6 months the visa is valid for and get 60 days each entry

so are you saying on a non OA visa, if I leave and come back, I only have 90 days? That's how that reads. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
Tod *********
@Maryanne *******
nope, sorry I let that one out, OA gets a year stamp OR as long as your insurance is valid for up to a year and the OX visas get a 5 year stamp

cool so if I leave Australia I need to extend my health insurance to make sure I have 12 months left right?

@Maryanne *******
it's exactly what I said further down when you re-enter on a a valid OA visa you show proof of insurance and you will get stamped in for as long as it's valid for up to one year (so if it's valid for less than a year you get only that amount of time on your entry stamp)

Oh I think I understand this... I can ENTER Thailand before 1 year from the date of issue. Right?
