Certificate of Residence

I’m on business owner / freelancer DTV

I want to get the certificate in order to register bike on my name.

Today I went to an immigration office in Koh Phangan with:

- TM30

- Passport copy

- DTV copy

- 4x6 photos

But I’ve got an answer that I need to provide my bank statements and proof of funds again. Even though DTV started couple of weeks ago.

Perhaps I should try Koh samui? I’ve seen posts in this group saying they got it with what I’ve already brought.

These guys at KP has always been angry about everything. Extremely unpleasant to go there.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeking a Certificate of Residence in Thailand on a DTV visa shared their experience at the Koh Phangan immigration office. They initially provided necessary documents but were told to submit bank statements and proof of funds. Following advice from others, they considered visiting Koh Samui, where some had more success with fewer requirements. An update indicated that they paid a fee to an agency in Koh Samui and expected the certificate to be issued shortly.

Immigration in koh Phangan works by its own rules. Better to visit Samui. But it takes 1 week to get a residence certificate

That is down to that office. Certainly do not need to show funds etc at other offices. In Chiang Mai for example it is TM30 and copy of visa and entry stamp. The question is can Samui issue one outside where your TM30 is registered? I thought it had to be where that was registered

Good one. Sometimes it is just worth paying for the certainty and convenience.

Hope all goes well. I have experience of a few different offices now in different locations. Just need to get to know their little quirks and requirements. I recently registered a bike in Chiang Mai. I just paid the driving school 1200 for the certificate and all paperwork. At least I knew it would work. Good luck
