What delays should I expect when applying for a visa at the Thai Embassy in Hanoi during Tet?

FYI for anyone applying in Vietnam this week. I submitted my application to the Hanoi embassy just before 5pm on Monday and have been sitting at Pending document check ever since - 48 hours later. Previous reports suggest that usually people have moved to pending approval status by now. So delays for the holidays seem inevitable.

UPDATE: after asking for a couple of my documents to be re-sent, and resending pretty much immediately, I have now moved to Processing Pending Approval! I think that's good news šŸ¤žšŸ¤ž

UPDATE 2: Thanks so much for everyone's advice in this group! Tet miracles can happen. I got approved this afternoon a few hours before the embassy closed for the holiday. I hope everyone else in a similar situation got approved so quickly.

Good luck everyone!

one of the requirements of the process is to be located in the same country where you apply, right.

How can they track you location?

Anonymous participant 406 you have to show proof you're in the country you're applying in. I showed my Vietnam visa stamp, boarding pass and hotel booking.

Anonymous participant 406 when you apply a microchip is automatically uploaded into your brain so they can follow you. It also will make you drink coffee and Hanoi beer

Anonymous participant 406 I wasn't and I haven't heard of anyone having to yet, but that doesn't mean it won't ever happen.

I got my DTV on the seventh day in Hanoi.

From what I have seen, it takes roughly 5 working days. If you submitted right before 5pm on Monday, that would count as a Tuesday submission. Similar to in person, submissions are usually counted as in the morning timeframe. The consular section closes usually at 3 or 4.

Can I ask what were the additional documents?
Aaron *****
Anonymous participant 970 work permit for the person on my paperwork because he is a foreigner. I had to go with someone else at the gym because the person who is on my original paperwork is on holiday. Iā€™m using Fight Evo 360 and the paperwork they provided, to me at least, seemed very thorough.

Great attitude. At least Vietnam has much to do, great food & coffee at reasonable prices. Get to experience Tet. I was there 2 times last year for a holiday from Thailand. Planning my Songkran escape there now
