TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers arriving at Suvarnabhumi Airport on a DTV Soft Power visa for Muay Thai may encounter scrutiny from immigration officers. Users reported being asked for proof of their participation in Muay Thai classes, with varying experiences—some were questioned about their skills, while others were required to show enrollment documents. It seems that irregularities in claims about attending Muay Thai classes could lead to being turned away, so having proper verification is crucial.

A friend with DTV Cooking class was taken to a small room at the airport, near Immigration control. There were some cooking utensils, pans, woks, cutting boards, and various knives. He had to explain what each utensil was used for and which recipe it was intended for.

Luckily he had worked in his aunt’s restaurant 25 years ago so he was able to answer.

The Immigration officers are allowed to ask any questions they find relevant.

If nothing to hide no problem.

Entered BKK with no issues whatsoever with my brand new DTV. Warm greeting and no questions asked.

Sounds like you applied under soft power Muay Thai with no intention of doing it.

In that case yes I had heaps of problems at the border, and was turned away since I couldn’t provide evidence of the soft power I falsely listed on my application.

I had to fight the head of immigration in the ring to prove that I'm learning Muay thai. I won so they let me through but just bear this in mind.

if you win your opponent will lose face and you won’t be allowed in the country. You have to fight just enough to prove your skill but let your opponent win so he saves face 😉

Anonymous participant 455 You're lucky. I got the DTV for cooking classes. Last time I entered I had to cook an entire banquet for the whole of the immigration staff on duty before they'd stamp me in!
