Approved in hcmc about 2 weeks ago, landed in bkk, no questions asked. Personally, I don't worry about any questions on future entries. I'm pretty sure Muay Thai training will become a habit and I'll continue the activity that gave me the DTV.

Did you need to have an entire 6 month course booked and show evidence to get soft power approved?

I booked 3 months for Muay Thai, just in case I would not be approved. Then I'd still be able to do it on a regular 60+30 day visa. If it raises questions, you can always answer you'd like to travel around and stay/train in different parts of the country. Which in my case will certainly be the case.

Congrats. I got approved with MT in August and entered September. Stayed 6 months and left for a few days. Stamped back in no questions asked.

How long did it take to hear back? I've just applied for mine yesterday.

I was asked for some extra documents, and I was approved 5 working days after uploading those. Report can be found on this page.

Provided you’re actually attending lessons and dedicate the whole 5 years of training, then it shouldn’t be an issue.

The people that will face issues are those that plan to abuse the visa

Anonymous participant 427 That goes for all approved DTVs. If you apply as freelancer and stop working, you are not eligible anymore either. I have said it before and say it again. I honestly can not understand why some people seem to think that people applying under soft power are abusing. If and when I stop Muay Thai, and there is an issue, I apply as freelancer. At the moment it was just easier to apply under soft power as I have only just started working as a freelancer.

The question is what will you do when you stop Muay Thai after a year? Do you get possibility to change to freelancer at that moment?

I haven't even started yet, not thinking about what might be. I am assuming I'll continue Muay Thai as a means of keeping fit and learning some skills. If, I do not continue and it becomes an issue and they cancel my DTV, what I do not expect, I am sure I can then apply as freelancer. But I do not see a reason to worry about that today, it's my first day back in bkk and finding a nice condo has more priority in my head.
