What challenges did you face while applying for a yellow house registration book in Thailand as a long-term expat?

I am German and have been in Thailand for four years with an annual visa, I have applied for the yellow home book and should get it next week. I had several problems, I filled out and read all the documents, I needed three witnesses and the mayor. It wasn't so easy and what others write was maybe possible ten years ago but not now.

With house book, no need for Certificate of Residence for anything, ever (bank account, driving licensce, buying a car);

With Pink ID Card, never need to carry passport on you except to Immigration;

With Pink Card, no hotel will ever submit their TM30 thus zeroing your previous one, no need to submit it again when you return to where you stay;

Airlines accept the Pink ID Card for domestic flights, no passport needed;

Without Pink ID CArd, Driving Licence has passport number on it (like 3 days backpackers can get that), not Thai National ID from the Pink Card;

Price for attractions/parks same as for Thai nationals.

House book is useless. I have housebook since 6 years and could never use it except for DLT Driver licence extension. Same applies for "Pink Card". What counts are: Passport and Driver Licence

I used the pink id card I/o passport as documentation for driver’s license. Don’t like passport being handled by others, have had a page torn by a careless clerk in a bank once.

For the yellow book I used the owner + his wife + a government employee they found as witness, went smoothly but took some time due to holidays

Getting Pu Yai bans signature also took me the longest was getting him in Amphur building at same time. But had all paperwork already from Marriage and didnt need any extra except copy of latest visa (keep everybit of paper you never know when you need it) Get your pink ID card at same time. Lots of people say its useless, i use it quite a lot just been travelling up north, even got for first time Thai price into national park
