Pink ID Card

Today I attended the Amphur at Banglamung to renew my Pink ID card as it was 10yrs old

On entering greeted at the desk by a lady that spoke perfect English, she then took my old card and me to the appropriate desk and explained to the staff what I required. 2 mins later photo taken, and answered a couple of simple questions, 1. still same address 2 still married 3. religion

After an further 3 mins signed a paper with my photo and thumb prints and to confirm my full name in English (showed my Thai driving license) and paid 100 Baht

5 further minutes and issued with my new ( valid for rest of my life as I am over 60 now) Pink Card

The staff were brilliant and helpful and also that they were able to serve a Farang quickly

All done by myself in and out in 11 mins, included parking

My is forever since I was over 60 when I applied for it. Myself and the kids applied at the same time. 1 hour later we had it. We had to wait a little for others since they need to change to pink paper for me.

Pink ID can be used for renewing Thai driving license instead of certificate of residence which has to be issued by your embassy

I only got one as I thought it might make things easier, never used it as my Thai driving license does everything I need. It lives in my wallet and never comes out but maybe one day it will be useful

Todd McGowan get one and find out. I’ve used mine frequently in place of my passport. I find it really weird that some people feel insulted by others having or wanting a pink card.

Martin Drazen I find it weird people like up in bureaucracy to get a card that does nothing for them. You already have a a passport lol. And who needs to carry around more cards they don’t need lol. Daft.

Carl Kaengkrachan haven’t seen an actual use for it yet. You can use it to replace your passport for ID for a few domestic things. But who cares. We all have passports

Same here last week in Lamplaimat! Just to add, if you go near the end of the day after all the Thai national card renewals are done it is quicker. Here they have to switch the computer system over to print the pink card and they prefer not to do that in the middle of the work day.
