Just some advice for anyone going abroad and applying on the evisa site for TR, you may need plenty of time, an open return and wd advise to bring a laptop with you as they may ask for a ton of extra info. Obviously everyone's circumstances are different. Was asked for various extra things to be sent, in my case house registration, every single page of my passport, my outbound leaving Thailand eticket. Has to be eticket not an agent itinerary.

actually, there are 2 types of single entry tourist visa you can apply for. There is one with reason "leisure", and there is another one with reason "visit family". If @Will *****
had applied for the "leisure" type, it would be much more convenient and easier because no house registration or rental contract required, no proof of relationship etc . . . . here's Tourist Visa "family visit"Will ******

he mentioned he just has finished a longstay on an expired "long term visa" which I think was a Non-Imm-ED. He runs a very high risk that he will be refused entry if he tries to enter visa-exempt so shortly after this. It would not be a problem at a land border, as one can just turn around, but a big problem if he gets stuck inside an airportAndy ************

yes. First time using it. It's fairly clear but wd still recommend a laptop. Esp if having to download every passport page. This is an extra requirement that may or may not be asked for.Reply to

If you are going from a long term visa to a short term visa then you are probably suspect and they'll want more details. Not knowing your home country and your Thailand travel history makes it hard to offer any further advice.

thanks Tony that's a respectful answer. I'm from UK and currently in Penang. This is first TR after a marriage visa that unfortunately I cannot extend. The initial apply does not require every page of passport. I've given the reason for visiting family. The initial application doesn't require all pages of passport or onward flight like the guy above says. But my advice still stands as a 'just in case they ask you will need to take this into account' post. Thanks for your replyNongnuch ********

ah, 😰 Penang consulate. . . . . 😕 You picked one of the most complicated Thai consulates of the whole of South East Asia (for which you would have found info had you followed discussions in FB groups by putting "penang consulate" into the search mask) . . . . . . so your rant is useless - they can ask for proof of this and for documents for that, they are free to ask for even more proofs and documents than those mentioned in the e-visa system. You said you had a long term stay permit before, which I suspect was a stay on a Non-Imm-ED visa - a well known visaclass to cause trouble to applicants after it expired. . . because the consulates and embassies will assume that you used this visa for a longstay in Thailand and actually didn't attend school 😢. . . which one might see as being a bit unfair of a treatment, mostly if one has definitely attended all classes. I think it was a marriage visa and there's plenty of rain to justify a short stay to "clean up affairs" after a marriage. Just need to be honest and open.Will ******

You cannot visit the consulate. They do not allow people inside of them anymore unless they are called for an interview or one of the few that require in-person payment. Other than that foreigners are no longer allowed on the property of Thai embassies and consulates as all business is done online.Nongnuch ********

This post is literally useless because you haven't included ANY information. What embassy? Each embassy sets their own requirements. What passport? What is your travel pattern and how long have you been in Thailand recently? What's your age, as some embassies are wary of giving visas that are not retirement to people over 50. There are a million factors that you haven't given any detail about.
It sounds like you were in Thailand, have been spending a lot of time in Thailand, and then left to a nearby country to apply for a tourist visa to try and get more time.
Most of the Thai embassies near Thailand are wary of people trying to live in Thailand without a long-term visa and make it difficult to get visas for visa runners. They include strict requirements like proof that you are leaving Thailand with a PAID ticket, showing every page in your passport to prove you haven't left the country you are applying in which is a requirement, and others.
If you apply in your home country, it's likely you don't need to supply any of the items you just listed and you'll get it in a few days.
