What can I do if my business visa was not properly canceled and I'm unable to get an official letter from my previous employer?

Hello, I have a question regarding my visa situation🙏🏼

Year 2021 I had a 12 month business visa. I quit my job and left the country

Came back 2 months ago on a visa exemption and when it was time to make the 30 day extension, immigration office rejected it because I didn’t “cancel” my business visa properly

They say I need an official letter from my previous employer with a stamp, then go to immigration and get a cancellation stamp..

Now the problem is that this company have been ignoring my messages & calls from last year..

I tried to reach out multiple times but it’s a dead end. I can’t get this official letter…

Is there any workaround / solution to this?

Thank you, all help is appreciated

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user faces challenges with immigration in Thailand due to not properly canceling a previous business visa after leaving their job. They are unable to get the required official cancellation letter from their former employer, who has been non-responsive. Suggestions from the community include hiring a Thai agent to assist with the immigration process, personally visiting the office of the previous employer, or sending an explanatory letter to immigration to clarify the situation. There are also concerns about potential fines for not fulfilling visa cancellation obligations.

You will also likely be subject to a rather hefty fine.

For what reason? I’ve both visited immigration office and entered Thailand by land border + airport, nobody mentioned anything about a fine

it's not a problem until somebody catches it.

And they seem to have caught it.

You did not fulfill the obligation and cancel an extension as required.

Fines are applicable.

Sometimes a letter send to the Immigration, explaining the situation, can help since it limits the translation errors

I guess you actually had an extension of stay and didn't bother cancelling it and probably not your work permit either. Can't you just go and knock on the office door?

The employer cancelled the work permit last year (October) and I left the country shortly after

I am in northern Thailand and their offices are located far away + the guy is never at the offices either..

did you get anything showing they'd cancelled the work permit?

you normally need to show you've cancelled your work permit when you cancel your extension of stay. I'd contact the immigration office where you got that extension of stay and see what they say. Only that particular office would possibly cancel it, no other office will touch it.
