I wonder what's the letter about? Which nationalities are actually still able to get such a letter for the 2nd extension? I particularly need information about US citizens. Is there any other possibility such as leaving the country and reenter. Or is this no option at all any longer? Thank your for the help! :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The query seeks to understand the requirements and options for US citizens regarding obtaining a letter for the second extension of their visa in Thailand. The discussion highlights that the US consulate is currently not providing such letters. Alternatives mentioned include visiting a local immigration office for guidance and the possibility of leaving the country to re-enter, but it's noted that this may not be a viable option either at this moment.

This is going around and around, AT THIS TIME the US consulate is NOT offering the letter.
All you can do is GO to your immigration office and see what they say as far as if you can get the 30 day unable to travel extension without the letter. If they won't issue it they will sell you a 7 day extension application denied stamp that gives you a week to get out of thailand.
All you can do is GO to your local immigration office and see if you can get it. I have seen NONE <- as in not one single verifiable case where someone got that extension without a letter from their consulate (not yet anyway).
The Visa on arrival has been extended already once in BKK. We had no return flight. The plan was to do the Visa run and stay for another month which now obviously is not possible any longer.
Yea that's what I talk about. I know there might such a letter. But people tell that Us citizens are not going to get such a letter. Unless there are reasonable circumstances.
