This year, I have used received two visa exemption stamps by air and extended my most recent stamp the 30 days. My visa expires on March 28. I had plans to go to KL, Malaysia for my second ED visa. Since Malaysia has announced to close their boarders, what option do I have? I have a US passport. I came to Thailand in 2019 with my first ED Visa from Laos.

Can I go to another country and hope for another visa extension? How many will they allow during a year? Would they be generous to me if I explain I was trying to get my ED visa but the boarders closing forced my change of plans?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is seeking options for a visa extension in Thailand due to border closures preventing travel to Malaysia for a second ED visa. They have already received two visa exemption stamps and extended their most recent stamp. Suggestions include contacting the US embassy for assistance and considering a visa run to another country, while also checking with their school for necessary documentation.

When the gurus wake in the morning they will give sound advice, but I suggest you include a few more details such as your location, if your visa exemptions were land or air, and if you have any history of being in Thailand in 2019.

Could do a visa run to another country. Check with your school since they need to prepare your documentation appropriately to apply at that that 'another country'

That's why I wrote check with your school. Wherever school says can prepare the document, you would check if you can go there or vise versa. Even you can go, but school doesn't preprare the documents, that's meaningless.

that is a good option. Besides Laos and Malaysia, what place would be accepting visitors that does ED visas.

Contact the US embassy and explain your situation. They might be able to offer assistance. if your ED visa comes from a credible institution and you've never had one before I don't see why Laos consulate wouldn't issue your ED Visa. Laos has always been pretty good for first time ED visas from what others have told me

What type of assistance would the US embassy offer? I was intending to go to KL for my second ED visa. My first one was from Laos.
