Could I exit and still get a new tourist visa? Does anyone have direct experience with this? What border/country did you use?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the options available for an individual who has used five COVID extensions on their visa in Thailand and is seeking advice on obtaining a new tourist visa. Several commenters provide their experiences with border runs, visa agency recommendations, and mention the importance of nationality in securing a new visa. Suggestions include leaving Thailand for two months and returning, as well as obtaining a work permit as a more stable solution. There are mentions of visa re-entry advice, with varying opinions on whether to seek a tourist visa or to pursue a work permit.

Get a proper visa and stop trying to swerve the system ffs
i had have 6 covid extensions and many in this group have had many. And they border bounced without any problems. I have re-entered 5 times visa exempt since the covid lock down. 5 times is not lucky. I don’t about tourist visas.
You all go in a van together, they will assist you, from CM prolly go to Mai Sai. I did it with a shop front agent near Mikes Bar old city on Moon Muaeung - may not be there now....
my concern is, obviously, making the trip, checking out, and not being able to re-enter. Can a visa agency really guarantee me anything? They won't be with me...
What nationality are you? Try getting an eVisa from your home country, if applicable. Should be easier (fully remote) than bothering with having to go to an in-person consulate appointment in a SEA country.
Why would you assume I have no knowledge? Suit yourself, „friend“. And yes, I extensively visited Thailand several times despite having had plenty covid extensions. Good day to you.
Will they? Passports do not get stamped in ones home country. Sure, you won’t have a Thai departure stamp to show. But for all they know or care you might already plan your next trip. Once a eVisa is issued, it is good for 90 days to enter Thailand. But as I said. Just do visa exemption. TR visa hardly makes sense these days.
I'm inside Thailand. I'm not going to fly back to USA to apply for an evisa, then fly back to Thailand. That's nuts

Even if you manage to get a tourist visa expect some questions on entering. Tourists don’t generally stay over a year in Thailand.

You could. But finding a consulate that will sell you one might be an issue. Definitely don’t try Singapore. From reports they’ll just reject you straight off. Others on here may have recent experiences at another consulate/embassy.
