Will I Be Able to Re-enter Thailand on My METV After the Amnesty Expires?

I understand that my METV will meet the July 31 amnesty requirements.

• It expires in August

• and current stamp expires in May.

But...

Once the amnesty is lifted, I'll then be required to "leave the country" - so I could be potentially forced to leave in, say, July?

Will I be allowed to do a border crossing and re-enter on existing VISA?

If not - can I still visit Chaengwatana and extend at 30 day intervals to maintain the "yes you can do border crossing for 60 day stamps" status of my VISA?

(Many thanks for all the hard work being done here. Navigating the VISA process does not come naturally to many of us. Eager to learn)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is trying to clarify their status under the upcoming July 31 amnesty, specifically whether they can re-enter Thailand on their existing METV after it expires or if they can apply for 30-day extensions at Chaengwatana instead.

okay, your VISA doesn't meet ANY amnesty rules :O It's your entry stamp FROM the visa that counts.

You have a 60 day entry stamp from your METV and that stamp (the one that lets you stay IN thailand) expires in May so you ARE covered on the amnesty program and allowed to stay no longer than the 31st of July.

NOW as far as IF you take the amnesty and when the borders open you want to get the 30 day extension INSTEAD of bouncing out and back in no one can tell you if that will work or not.

Thank you Tom, that clears up a lot!

Seems to me, my best course of due-dilligence is to visit office and extend per normal.

I don't want to be trapped in a "you took the amnesty and now things have improved you must return to your country within 7 days"

Right now you can use the amnesty and once the borders open and the government announces what amnesty holders are to do at that time you'll know
