TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent discussions among travelers have raised concerns about whether non-vaccinated individuals can still enter Thailand. Initial speculation indicated strict regulations might come into effect, but as of January 9, 2023, Thailand has introduced new COVID-19 requirements, which may include a vaccination certificate or doctor's note, along with COVID treatment insurance for some travelers. The situation is evolving, and travelers are advised to stay updated on the latest guidelines as they can change frequently.

We’d be happy for you to stay home.

It is all speculation, but speculation comes from bits of truth. There are also reports that there is a start and end date to the change. We should know the full details on Tuesday.
Paul *******
We already know the full details now as they relate to air travel.

Yup. Came together pretty quickly yesterday.

I flew into Bangkok yesterday and it was the easiest immigration ever. Got off the plane and walked to fast track. No line. Handed them my passport. One minute later they stamped it and I was done. No forms to fill out. No questions. No vaccination cards. No mask. Just breezed right in.

the current rules are laid out by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand so they're already in effect.

Tuesday the royal Thai gazzeette will make a decision
David ***********
This is because of the Chinese so Thailand is making a rule for all so the Chinese don't think they are being single out, the Chinese put a lot of money into Thailand building and paying for the road structure,
Paul *******
The Chinese haven't paid a cent for Thai infrastructure. The Thais won't allow it either. They're too proud and xenophobic .

Just read it earlier

So they did:

⚠️ Urgent inbound travel restrictions starting Jan 9th

Thailand has new COVID-19 requirements for inbound travelers arriving by air: vaccination certificate or doctor's letter, COVID treatment insurance for some, mask guidelines, and testing for those with symptoms. Be prepared before your trip.

Does anyone think it’s got something to do with China opening up the borders and letting them travel
Lye **********
@Kate ***********
Definitely due to China opening up. However the reintroduction of this requirement to enter Thailand is still in proposal stage and not official yet. Apart from proof of vaccination, they might bring back travel insurance which covers Covid as well.

Loving the arguments about vaccinations. Why don't you understand that it's what the thai government decide how we enter the kingdom, whether you agree or not, nobody is arsed.
Matteo ***********
if this becomes the rule. I'm happy not to come back then
Paul *******
@Gary ********
if quarantine comes back then it's a sign that this won't ever end. I'd be very very concerned about the return of quarantine for anyone.

I think it's outrageous what they're doing but to be honest I'm surprised Thailand didn't lock out the unvaccinated last year when many neighboring countries did and the USA still does.

Never assume that Thailand can't do the same or even worse.

In fact, Thailands Covid rules starting in 2020 were just about the strictest in the world barring China.
Paul *******
@Coilean ********
no, they'll be moaning that their tourism targets haven't been met. Contrary to Thai logic, tourists don't want to travel to a country with restrictions when 75% are fully open and another 15% allow for a test or vaccine.
Coilean *********
@Paul ******
Another miss informed expert. If you check on line unvaccinated are now allowed to travel and maybe a PCR test on arrival but that's not clear. If you know Thailand rules change daily so you need to keep on top of things before commenting Paul.
Paul *******
@Coilean ********
No one wants to travel to a country where the rules change daily. They want stability, not "force majeur". Thailand isn't the only country in the world, the arrogance of the people in power here is astounding.

Thailand should be kissing our feet not trying to shove us away or make it difficult for us to come or extend our stays.
Paul *******
@Coilean ********
"It's not clear". Hence why there are thousands of cancelations and even Richard Barrow admits this will destroy the reputation of the country.
Gary *********
@Paul ******
it’s pure madness and will only be another nail in the coffin of an already ruined travel industry.

I’ve just walked if a flight from Vietnam and no one was asked for anything at Bangkok airport !

@Matteo **********
I am sure Thailand will also be happy your coming as well if you dont respect the rules. Good bye.

Georgia is an option - 1 year entry stamp

@Matteo **********
all about control eventually !! The WHO and WEF have their game plan, all in motion now. If people comply, then we are well and truly fcuked.
Steven ******
@Gary ********
don't comply then. I'm happy to go along with the rules, in fact, I love it.

@Steven *****
excellent 😃
Gary *********
Matteo Montanari well much the same as me, I’m just saying what they may possibly do does not make any sense and does not make anyone safer.
Matteo ***********
@Gary ********
@For****
yes I agree, and it's quite scary because this whole story is an aggression to fundamental human rights and it seems they want to keep going with no shame.
Gary *********
Matteo Montanari unfortunately I’ll be in the same boat. Doesn’t make sense, as I mentioned to Peter above. Can travel with 2 jabs taken over 18 months ago, and are no longer working, hence the request for jabs, 3, 4 and 1 million, so these people could be carrying, but take a pcr test, and possibly even quarantine…no sorry, your not welcome. Madness, and makes no sense. As you say, they’ll be other countries more welcoming.

Let’s see what the outcome is, but I’m not hopeful this time. I did quarantine twice last time, no probs.
Matteo ***********
@Gary ********
I know nothing about that and I'm not doing any of those things, I don't comply, I'm not even measuring the temperature. I leave and go where they don't bother me
Coilean *********
Yep so the Minister for helth said to day. The LOS only want clean people with no virus spreaders.
Matteo ***********
@Coilean ********
I'm sure he knows a lot about cleaning and viruses
Steven ******
Can't wait for all this speculation and rumours, again. 🙄
Gary *********
@Peter *******
nobody knows for sure. It will be a big kick in the teeth for the hospitality sector if they go as far as banning unvaccinated. Time will tell. Hope you had a good Xmas. Did you eat out. We used to go to green man 😃
Peter ********
@Steven *****
: Sorry, you'll have to !
Steven ******
@Peter *******
used it by now mate, it's been going on since mid 2020 on these groups.
Gary *********
Peter Notley No peter, people don’t need to get jabbed. Worst case, they’ll bring back quarantine again. Do you think it makes sense mate…if your jabbed you can sit on a plane without knowing you’ve the so called virus, but unvaccinated need to test. I know what plane I’d rather be on, and it’s not with the jabbed. Hope alls well in phuket.

Ask yourself this, why are people getting 3, 4, or even 5 shots….because they don’t fcuking work. But, to travel, you only need 2😂😂 join the dots peter, and try and think.
Peter ********
@Gary ********
It's all too much for me Gary. I think I was trying to say that the speculation ref various country entry requirements will be just that - speculation - until we know for sure. I'm exhausted by it all ! I'm finding beer is a reasonable antidote !! 🍺🍺🍺🍺.

That’s current media speculation. No one knows what the actual rules may be over the next few days. We are all waiting to see what the actual regulations may say. Unfortunately no one can give you a specific answer as yet.
