Quick question peeps - can one extend tourist visa online? I read that they launched this E-visa last November and during the pilot phase this service is only made available to foreigners working or living in Thailand. Have they extend beyond pilot. My second question is how many days do you need to have in your current tourist visa to apply for extension? Is there a minimal? Many thanks!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Currently, you cannot fully extend a tourist visa online in Thailand. While there is a pilot program for online extensions, it involves submitting documents online and then attending an appointment in person to finalize the extension. Regarding the timing for extensions, you can apply at an immigration office on or before the last day of your current visa. Requirements for how many days are left on your visa before you can extend may vary by immigration office, with some offices allowing extensions the same day as your arrival.
the minimum time varies from Immigration office to immigration office...BKK you can extend the day you land as long as you are registered on TM-30, can get there before there closing hours M-F...other immigration offices won't let you extend until a certain number of days from the expiration date...you probably can't extend online due to it being a stamp in your passport and monetary transaction
The pilot program allows you to apply for your extension online, and pay an extra fee to do so.
Then after they approve all the documents you submitted online, you make an appointment to go to Chang Watthana in person, and submit all the documents you submitted online and then pay for your extension and get it stamped in your passport.
the ONLY benefit is not waiting in the regular line at the immigration office. But you can make a free appointment and skip to the front of the regular line. In my opinion the new system is a complete waste of money.
The only time it would make sense is if you didn't have to go into the office at all.
