Hi everyone!

I am travelling with my partner (Russian woman).

Today both of us were issued tourist visas in Penang, Malaysia.

Advice for anyone applying in Penang:

1- no appointment; just turn up no later than 7am in the morning (there was already a queue). I got place #9 and she got #6, there was a group of 30-40 people who turned up shortly after us;

2- dress code is strict - men - long trousers, women skirt below knee length, everyone needs a mask, people got turned away for not following this code;

3- you need 2 passport photos, however the guys selling food and drinks opposite the entrance lied that we needed three photos and offered to do extra photos for her when they saw her filing in her form with all the stuff on the table.

Just to add some additional stuff - you need to show plane tickets out of Thailand within the 60 day period. You also need to show three months of bank statements - 20,000 baht per month you plan to stay in Thailand. Bus tickets are no good. You don’t need to show proof of how you plan to enter Thailand, just write on the form e.g. bus/train etc.

Thank you for your advice. Adding a bit of additional to No.2 if I may, both of men and women better cover your shoulders.
