Hi, everyone. What documents do I need from my school to cancel my extension of stay based on work, as well as my work permit?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To cancel your extension of stay based on work and your work permit in Thailand, you typically need your termination paperwork and your work permit. First, visit the Ministry of Labour to fill out the cancellation form for your work permit and submit your work permit. After that, take your termination paperwork and proof of cancellation to the immigration office to cancel your extension of stay. Since you are in Phuket, it's advisable to check with the local immigration office for any additional specific documentation they may require.

And the short answer is deleted. It is your work permit, your Extension of Stay stamped inside your passport. It is therefor your responsibility to take care. And what ever people will tell you: It is not the responsibility of the teachers council, the Ministry of Education, the fishery department, the cashier of

or who ever they want to tell you. You and only you, but if it is not done as it should be done you will face the consequences and that must be reason enough to take care.

Heres what I needed about 7 months ago to cancel everything. Its in Thai its what I was given at immigration. It was a Non B but not a teaching visa. My boss had to get documents from the labour office and tax office. It had all changed. Hope it helps.

Thanks, Robert. On my last day of employment, I'm going to the department of labour and immigration with HR to do the cancellations.

when you find out please report back. There is much confusion as to the process here in Phuket.

Seeing as you don't say where you are, this is just a general idea;

Usually you take your termination paperwork and your work permit to the Ministry of Labour, fill out the "cancel work permit" form they have there, turn in your work permit, then take your termination paperwork along with proof you canceled the work permit to the immigration office and cancel your extension.

IF you DO live in Phuket (Division 6) I think you're gonna hafta GO to the immigration office and check to see what documentation you need to take to them to cancel your extension. They are their own kingdom down there.

Phuket definitely does things differently, and if you forget that, they're happy to remind you. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Once I successfully cancel both work permit and extension of stay, I plan to fly out of Thailand to one of the neighbouring countries and fly back into the Kingdom on a 30 day visa exempt. I have South African passport. Would there be any problems with this?
