1. Anyone from here who had experience "walk-in" visa application in Vientiane, Laos?

2. Coming from Udon Thani there's a bus that goes directly to Vientiane right?

3. And the bus will wait for you to get stamped just like in Savannakhet?

4. Is the bus station in Vientiane near to hotels and embassy?(consulate office).

I'd highly appreciate your responses!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the process of obtaining a Thai visa in Vientiane, Laos, specifically from Udon Thani. Key points include: there is no longer a walk-in visa application procedure; travelers must have an appointment to gain entry; buses are available from Udon Thani, but obtaining a Laos visa beforehand is essential; and proximity of the bus station to hotels and consulates in Vientiane is queried.

a Complaint came, topic is open for VISA advice and what do i read. a story about a bus and minivan. Sorry but how to get to a Thai Consulate is still not a requirement to get a Thai Visa, You must be there, how you did that is up to you, you can walk, swim, run, taxi, bus, minivan, push bike, motor bike, train, tuk tuk, airplane, private helicopter pick your choice.

I don't know if any different now, but 3 years ago, there wasn't a bus going directly to Vientiane from UT, you could take a minivan from the airport in UT that would drop you off at Friendship bridge in Nong Khai, then you would get on another bus to cross the border, clear immigration, then you could take taxi or public bus for the short ride into Vientiane.. not sure about the location of embassy/consulate once you get into Vientiane..

1. No walk in

2. You can't take a bus from udon to Laos, unless you have a visa already.

3. You'll take a bus from udon to friendship bridge, where you'll cross immigration, and catch a taxi to Vientiane.

4. Google is your friend, but there is a decent hotel by the consulate (Do not go to the embassy! Different building)

I am curious....Why are you still without a proper VISA AND WORK PERMITto teach in Thailand? Is your school or agency failing to give you proper documents???

If so, you are not the first teacher to be promised a work permit by an agent or school but never get it. Beware and be careful. Good Luck...and as the new school term is now starting, jobs are still available from reputable schools.

my school is kinda slow in processing my papers and they're not that knowledgeable towards it. But i'm about to process my non b visa now.
James ********
Benjamin Hays I am hopeful that is true. But its apparently been a two school term ongoing problem.
Benjamin ******
He might be going to get a non b now. It's the school break and nobody is working.

IF you just plan your trip marginally in advance you can make a booking and get an appointment at Vientiane easily.

I just checked and they have openings on the 8th for Non-Immigrant visas.

I agree with Robert, you can find your own way there. I mean you managed to make it half way around the world to thailand on your own, I think you can manage to get to the next country over

Good Luck,

And this tour office is closing down. Sorry but for busses, hotels, restaurant, bars, sight seeing tours etc you need to find another page, this page is called visa advice.

there is no such thing as a walk in up in Vientiane.

you make an appointment, you get in the gate,

you don't make an appointment you don't get in the gate.

Robert *******
Since Feb 2019, you may try to walk in but without an made on-line appointment and confirmation of that day, you will be stopped at the first gate and send back. The link to make an appointment

The travel agency brings the people to the first gate, every one walk in by their own If you meet all the requirements and you do not have a long history of using Visa Exempt Entry, Tourist Visa and Non Immigrant ED visa and you application is genuine then you should get the visa without problem.

I already have an appointment sir. I'm just asking if what are my options to get in to Vientiane by just walking in with my appointment. Because most people are going there by travel agency.

There are no “walk ins” anymore at Vientiane. There are buses from Udon Thani, but you need to have a Laos visa already before they will allow you on. If you don’t have a Laos Visa, take a bus to Nong Khai, cross the bridge and then another bus to Vientiane.
