Hi, my friend is flying tmr from CNX-UdonThani-Vientiane to apply her NON-ED Visa (taking a Thai course for a year). My questions

1) she will fly to UdonThani, take an hour bus to border, a "Tuk-tuk" to hotel for next morning Embassy visit -is this correct?

2) will she need to have any reasonable amount of cash with her to show the officer or will they require her to show finance/ bank statement?

3) she don't speak any Thai, will it be easy to get transport back to border and bus to airport and catch her 1800 flight back to CNX?

Thank you for any advice😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user asked about their friend's travel plans to apply for a NON-ED Visa in Vientiane from Udon Thani, seeking guidance on transportation, financial requirements, and language barriers. Responses confirmed the bus and tuk-tuk travel route, indicated that financial proof was generally not required for the visa, and reassured that transportation would be manageable despite the language barrier, especially with taxi options recommended for efficiency.

Depending on when her flight gets in to Udon she might make it to the consulate on time to turn in her paperwork that day. They accept applications from 8:30-11:30. If not she's good to go for the next morning

they are not gonna ask for financial at the thai consulate OR at the Nong Khai border when she stamps back into the country

She isn't gonna be the only foreigner slogging to vientiane from Udon to get a visa believe me.

She should have plenty of time to get her passport back, get to the Nong Khai border, stamp outta Lao stamp into Thailand and then high tail it to the Udon airport for the flight.

@Ni**
, seeing as she's already gonna be there, AND the next day they give the passports back in the order they took the applications, I'd have her go early like at 6:30-7:00. I'm sure there will be people in the line already ...

Hi Tod, her flight from CNX on 1215pm, so will not make it to the consulate today. She will be able to go tmr morning and pick up tmr afternoon right? What time would you suggest her to go queue up tmr morning? Thx

1. Correct

2. Not sure for non ed but for a tourist visa it's not required.

3. Correct. Although it is HIGHLY advisable to get a private taxi from the consulate direct to udon airport due to time constraints. (The taxi will drive through the border and you will get your thai stamp quicker too) Pay no more than 1000 baht for the ride. No need to speak Thai or Lao.
