Tod Daniels I arrive in Udon Thani at 4pm and plan to hand in my passport the next morning at Vientiane embassy. Will find a bus from the airport to Vientiane. Will collect the passport the following afternoon and take the 10pm flight back from Udon Thani to Bangkok. Should have plenty of time! Thanks!!

@Vinny *******
, Hmm, yep they offer a fly-n-ride to Vientiane Laos too.

It shouldn't matter much, if you have the 6AM flight there you can easily get from the Udon airport to the Nong Khai border with the mini-van parked outside the airport door. Then cross and get to the consulate before they close to turn in your application. Plus if you get the 6:35PM flight back the next day you can get your passport, enter thailand and get back to Udon in time to catch your flight back to bangkok.

Ah no, booked Bangkok to Udon Thani πŸ™ˆ

@Vi***
, and you booked Nok Air Bangkok to Vientiane right?

@Tod ********
I didn't see any option for this when I booked my flight
Tod *********
Having never done that route, I don't know if you can get from the Trans Express Office in the center of the city to the thai consulate in time to turn in your application :/
Tod *********
@Vi***
, no you book the Nok Air fly-n-ride program when you buy the ticket
Vinny ********
Do you have to let them know when you book your flight or when you check in that you plan to go to Vientiane from Udon Thani?

the time points are shitty (meaning you can't get from the Vientiane Airport to the consulate in time to turn in your paperwork before they close.

Plus the cost is quite a bit more compared to flyin' to Udon and taking a mini-van to the Nong Khai border.

Great, thanks for the answers so far!

But if I fly to Udon Thani and arrive at 21:30, will I be able to go to Vientiane right away that evening??? Will I be on time to apply for the visa the next morning 8:30 at the immigration office? Anyone experience with that?

I can send you EXACTLY how to do it with prices. GIve me a few mins, I'll PM it.
Tod *********
I think they stop letting people cross the friendship bridge in Nong Khai at 10PM. You can get to Nong Khai stay over nite and then cross when they open up the border at 6AM. You'll have plenty of time to get to the thai consulate in time

Don’t get a minivan if you value your life. Fly to Udon Thani. An hour to the border from there.
Leo ********
You can pick up the minivan from tesco lotus Onnut leaves around 5.30 am . You will see people standing in car park but arrive early as it can get busy

next Friday is a holiday in Laos, the paperwork you must hand in on Wednesday before 11am so you can pick up on Thursday after 13:30. There are many ways to get to Vientiane. Fly direct , fly via Udon and take mini van to border, or take an agency from Bangkok. The prices are reasonable.
