Hi there, looking for some visa guidance please. My Thai girlfriend and I have been planning to get married for a little while, and we had pencilled in this summer as the time to do it. However, it’s looking like this virus situation is going to make that very difficult, if not impossible, as I need a certificate of no impediment from a British notary public, and it looks like they are also on lockdown. We only want to get the bare minimum paperwork of official papers submitted, and then a marriage Visa applied for. Are we now destined to have to wait this out indefinitely, or are there any other angles that I’m missing, that might allow us to pursue this? Thanks
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks guidance on marrying their Thai girlfriend amid COVID-19 lockdowns, specifically regarding the requirement for a certificate of no impediment from a British notary public, which has become difficult to obtain. The comments clarify that one needs to first obtain marriage paperwork from the consulate, then marry at the Amphur, and finally apply for a NON-O visa based on marriage, emphasizing the necessity of prior approval and proof of funds.
