TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning to marry their Thai girlfriend in Thailand on December 28, and seeks guidance on the necessary steps to take following the marriage, especially since they plan to marry in the UK later. Respondents highlight the importance of officially registering the marriage at the local 'amphur' office, which involves getting the marriage documents notarized by the British Embassy and translated into Thai. They also mention the need for two witnesses, and recommend considering a prenup. Additional insights include the potential advantages of using an agent for the process to navigate the paperwork more efficiently.

Do the Village marriage for her family. Do the official one, and get it registered there. And at British Embassy. Easier than here. You can always have Reception here after 😉👍

I can’t be to hard. I did it in 2020. I did use a agent. For me it was cheaper in the long run. Our aim was to start the 5 year route. To get ILR. So have right to stay in UK 🥴

You have to understand that the service with the monks, and family, then eating, is not the official wedding. That is only a blessing. The real wedding must be done at the local amphur office. There are documents required notarized by your embassy, and officially translated, and certified, into Thai. You are not technically married until this is all done at the local amphur/ district office.

After you have affirmation of marriage and certified true copy of passport you need to get that officially translated.

Use a gòod company for this, if your name gets messed up in translation can cause a lot of problems later on.

its not difficult to do it yourself but you need to get confirmation from your embassy your not already married take it foreign affairs just outside bangkok then take documents to tessa ban office 2 witness's 10 baht fee and your married if all paperwork is in order i did it myself wasent hard but an agent will save you a lot of running around

Sometimes, as in my case, it's possible someone (the developer selling the property for instance) will have your name translated for a sales and purchase agreement in the case of purchasing property. This same translation was used when I applied for my yellow house registration book. It may be that Walter similarly has a translation from some earlier transaction.

he didnt answer so presumed not. I did other way around used the marriage and passport translation for yellow book and pink ID, but its important to get it right.

The longest part of getting legally married I found was getting the appointment at British Embassy to get your documents.

for us people must make appointment with your embassy, they will notarize your affidavit then must have translated and passport to register the marriage. You can do a civil or Thai wedding, but doesn’t count until registered. They will also need some evidence of your relationship and will interview you. That’s why you must have it translated. My fees were 50$ for embassy and 50$for translated Takes about three day turnaround for embassy. My translated will handle and mail to my fiancées address. Since our home is six hours northeast of Bangkok Good luck, really not that hard. The stamp or seal must be done at your embassy in Thailand. For The US you can’t get into embassy without a printout of appointment. No walking ins permitted. I don’t know about your embassy, but pay close attention. Forms can be had at embassy or downloaded. Check and see you may discover there are certified translation services near your embassy.

You're not asking a question here. What do you have to do about what?? What is it you want people here to help you with. Getting married, okay, then what?
