What is the process for relocating to Thailand on a marriage visa if married in the UK?

Hello all.

I am 62 and my Thai wife is 60. We live in the UK and were married in the UK in 2020.

We now want to relocate to Thailand.

What is the process to enable us to do this?

I want to go down the route of a marriage visa.

Will we have any issues regarding the fact that we were married in the UK.

My Thai wife and I got married in the US and my wife did the Thailand marriage visa for me. We didn’t pay or bribe anyone. It was a bit difficult, but able to get done.

I done the Non O visa from the uk last year. applied online at Thai Embassy London. Got the 90 day visa. then opened a Thai bank account as soon as possible with 800K BHT and kept in bank for 2 months Applied for the year extension after 90 days in person at immigration office.

Thanks Bob. I thought the Non O marriage visa was only 400K BHT in the bank? Fortunately I already have a Thai bank account with Krungsri but it is only a savings account. Will this be OK.

IMO, you may consider retirement visa. All you need is to prove your financial status. If you go for non-o spouse visa, there will be a lot of other documents of your spouse to be presented to the immigration. Even your spouse has to be heavily involved during the application process.

Go to the embassy's website.

thanks for this Stuart. Fortunately we have already got the marriage certificate endorsed in the way you describe as the wife needed a new Thai passport and ID card with her married name on. 👍

You can apply for a Non O visa based on your marriage in the UK using the Thai evisa system via London - which would give you an initial 90 days on entry.

To get the yearly extension you’d need to get your UK marriage certified. See the steps in the photo to do so.
