Update :-) Legged it straight from Amphur so stopped in Roi Et and bought a cheap workhorse printer to coppy all docs as Tabien Ban was updated and New ID card for wife, decent printer for 1200 baht lol Followed someone's reccomendation of riverfront hotel, I have paid over £100 and stayed in worse than this for 800 baht. Any ad ice on best time to cross? Plan to drive and park next to bridge afer brekkie.

we knew we were in trouble straight away at embassy lol they told me they no longer stamp a thai nationals divorce if it was from UK and we had to get it legalised!! Went to see amphur hoping we could marry, absolutely not, so we had to get it legalised in uk, took 6 weeks in all.

It should be fairly straightforward. Our case was up in the country, so the guy in charge played his “I want a present” game and came up with all kinds of nonsense about how/why he couldn’t do it.

Most people get it done quite easily as the amphur has a ‘big book of rules’ that they refer to if they’re not sure how to process something. In larger cities they’re pretty used to foreigners marrying Thai nationals and are familiar with the process.

Took us 2.5 hours when we did ours. But then, the boss there and my wife are friends. 30 minutes for the paperwork 2 hours of them talking.

It took us three whole days at our local Amphur!

If the guy in charge had just told me he wanted a bottle of whisky on day one, we could have been in and out in twenty minutes 😂
