TLDR : Answer Summary
It is not uncommon to be requested for a home visit after receiving an extension on a marriage visa in Thailand. While some expats report having never experienced a home visit, others, particularly those in different regions, like Kanchanaburi, may have followed procedures that include home visits for extensions. Experiences vary greatly depending on the locality and the history of residence in Thailand.

It depends where you live. I lived in BKK for over a decade and never had a home visit, but now I'm in Kanchanaburii I've had a visit on both of my last 2 extensions
