TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirements for the DTV visa state that applicants need to show 500,000 baht, which can be held in any bank account worldwide, including accounts in the applicant's home country. It is essential to clarify that the amount of 800,000 baht mentioned is associated with the Non-O retirement visa, where the funds must be in a Thai bank account for one year. Applicants for the DTV visa cannot open a Thai bank account, and existing accounts may be closed once the bank becomes aware of the DTV status.

Do some basic research first. The requirements are crystal clear: it's 500K not 800K, although some embassies have fixed amounts in local currency that can be slightly higher or lower. Also, the money can be at any country bank, and, as a matter of fact, you CANNOT open a Thai bank account while on a DTV. Even if you have an account already, sooner or later the bank will close it ONCE/IF they find you you're on a DTV.

Get malaysian business visa. It's hassle free. You and your family, even parents can stay long term on this visa. And it's cheaper.

Do more research....its 500k (equivalent) in any bank account in your home country...800k is for nonO retirement (must be in thai acct for 1yr extension)......there are reports that DTV will not be allowed to have thai bank acct

raises a question regarding individuals on DTV soft power: how do they manage to pay for utilities, internet, and even rent without possessing a local bank account? I suspect that it is not feasible to do so entirely through a standard credit card. Cash appears to be the only alternative, although it carries certain risks.

Kindly elaborate.

No Thai embassy requires 800k baht. The DTV requirements are 500k baht in a bank account. A Thai bank account is not required and is infact impossible to open without a long-term visa.
