Hi, I am intending to apply for the DTV (workcation - foreign talent) in order to write a book about music in Thailand. I have a real portfolio. Most of my spare money sits in my Australian retirement account, which, thanks to my age, I can now access like a slow bank. Do I need to move the THB500,000 into a regular bank account?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for the THB 500,000 in a regular bank account is generally stipulated by most embassies when applying for a DTV visa. While your retirement account might have funds, it is advisable to verify with the embassy regarding its acceptance. Experiences shared by others suggest that having funds in a term deposit, along with a regular bank account statement, may help demonstrate financial stability during your visa application.

I had mine in a term deposit which showed it reoccurring after expiration every 6 months, greater bank account, i sent the statement for that and my regular account which only had approx a grand in it at the time but showed me transferring in regularly and using it for every day spending, i then attached a cover letter explaining i can withdraw the term deposit if needed and why i attached the latter statement. All approved no worries, i applied in Hanoi

Vast majority of embassies require the 500k in a regular bank account, You would need to contact the embassy you apply from if they approve of your retirement account being used
