Hey guys. I'm from USA and doing the 30 day free visa on arrival. Was wondering if someone could direct me to a site or give some detailed directions on what to do?

I have not done the 30 day in awhile. Do I need photo. Return ticket? Is there a form to fill out ?

Thks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user from the USA inquired about the 30-day visa exemption upon arrival in Thailand. The community provided insights regarding the necessity of having a return ticket as proof of onward travel, various experiences with airlines requesting documentation, and clarifications about the arrival departure card process. It was emphasized that this entry is not a visa on arrival but rather a visa-exempt entry, for which the airline may not provide the departure card before landing.

I've been asked by many airlines for proof of onward travel. At least three times I was given a waiver to sign releasing them of liability if I am not allowed entry into the country.

Since this usually works out I don't buy an onward ticket and am prepared to buy the cheapest possible throw away ticket ($30?) while at the airport check in.

, you're far more likely to have a problem checking in with the airline bringing you here without proof of onward travel than you are with passport control once you land.

Many airlines require proof of onward travel if you are flying in without having bought a visa from a thai consulate before hand (30 day visa exempt entry). The reason is, IF for some reason you're denied entry on a 30 day visa exempt entry and the airline let you board with no proof of onward travel they have to lug you back to where you come from.

That's great to know. You think I should have proof of ticket out or some cash in my pocket?

They'll give you an arrival departure card on the airlines before you land to fill out. That's it..

Not necessarily - no cards handed out by Airasia on my flight KUL--CNX 10 days ago and I even asked for one. "Get at airport" I was told.

You're not getting ANY visa on arrival. :/ You're getting in on what's called a 30 day visa exempt entry.
