Hello all, some VOA advice please? American citizen entering first time for 12 days from India to Suvarnabhumi airport.I am told (from Thai embassy here) I am exempt from having to get a Visa since it is under 15 days. For 30 days it the requirements would change they say.To back myself up I have documents stating I will be staying in friends home, photocopies of passport, my new passport, over requirement Thai baht, e ticket to exit. Two questions: Do I need 2 passport photos 4x6 cm, and will I need to show bank balance although I have enough cash? Thank you..

TLDR : Answer Summary
An American citizen traveling to Thailand for the first time can enter on a 30-day Visa Exempt Entry stamp at Suvarnabhumi Airport without needing passport photos or proof of bank balance, as long as they have a valid passport and the TM6 Arrival/Departure card.

With a USA passport you get the 30 day Visa Exempt Entry stamp, an entry without a visa. Only thing you need is your valid passport and the TM6 Arrival/Departure card, which you get in the plane or take from one of the counters just before Immigration. No pictures needed

you mixing two different things, a USA passport holder can get the 30 day Visa Exempt Entry and an Indian passport holder can get the 15 day Visa on Arrival. Now the question is, which passport do you hold?

You'll get a 30 day exempt stamp that you can extend for 30 more if you like for 1900 baht
