TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is set to arrive in Thailand on December 30th using a visa exemption scheme (30 days plus a 30-day extension). They inquire whether a return ticket is necessary for entry. Responses suggest that while airlines may request a return ticket, it is generally not required by Thai immigration if a Certificate of Entry (COE) is issued. Other users emphasize the importance of having sufficient funds for entry and note that visa types cannot typically be changed once in Thailand.

I arrived phuket via boat and no flight ticked needed, got the STV within 1 day

I arrived BKK Saturday from Australia. No return flight. I am waiting to return to Laos but I wasnโ€™t asked at immigration.

Your airline may not let you board without a visa or onward travel within the visa exemption

I am flying in with the TR visa. I plan on extending it, then seeing if I can convert to a student visa.

I just purchased my one-way flight today (from USA) and submitted my application to the embassy.. They responded 1 hour later... Asking for round-trip confirmation. Did they do that for you?

Has anyone else found a solution to onward/return flight when you don't really plan to return/or don't know when you will return? Thanks

Everything I've read is that you can not change your visa type once you're there.

If you're planning for retirement visa you need first some for non o visa once here, 15 days before it expires, you need to prepare and transfer the money to apply for it. If your not ready can apply for 30 extension.

Make sure you have the required funds needed by immigration, in cash.

Also, a visa exempt entry is extendable once for an additional 30 days, not 15.

ohh good to know. Thanks Garrett. I think I should just prepare a return ticket for airlines. Just in case.

March Brenwall. If you hang off a few days, cabinet today approved an extra 15 days for the visa exempt to allow for quarantine. Hopefully it'll be gazetted (and hence become law) before Christmas. This gives you the potential for 45+30 on the entry stamp

Have you been issued a COE yet? As a rule, the only people that ask for return tickets are Airlines. If you've been issued a COE then you're fine from an immigration standpoint.

@March *********
when you asked for the COE you were supposed to show the airline booking details and confirmation, did you submit only one way?
