While its kinda difficult to find a clear information I decided to try here. We are planning to move to Thailand for minimum 1 year. Im EU citizen my husband is Thai - we got married in my country. We have 2 small kids - and already got advised to make thai birth certificates and thai passports for them (so they can enter Thailand as thais) but we are not clear how to do about me.
Maybe I can find here some farang woman having thai husband - that would be perfect to ask some questions about visas and stuff. Wish to know if we can book one way tickets for all our family and just apply for some family spouse visa for me after we arrive - or betternto do.it before booking tickets? what are the requirements (financial especially..) How about some insurance for me? Will my husband be able to provide from his insurance (after he gets job in Thailand)..
would love to hear any advice from you'all ๐

TLDR : Answer Summary
An EU citizen married to a Thai citizen seeking to move to Thailand with children can apply for a Non-O visa based on marriage, either before departure at a Thai embassy or after arrival. This visa has no financial requirements for women, which simplifies the process. It's recommended to obtain Thai birth certificates and passports for the children right away. Insurance can potentially be covered by the Thai spouse's employer after securing a job in Thailand.

Apply for the Non Imm O visa based on marriage at your local Thai Embassy/Consulate. There are no financial requirements for a woman married to a Thai man.

Go here there are many ladies in same situation as you.
You can also apply for citizenship quite easily compared to males. Get kids stuff first and state your country (EU not a country)
You're actually in one of the easiest situations that exists, visa-wise. That's because a woman married to a Thai man can get the non-O marriage visa and the subsequent 1-year extension without any financial requirements. You just need the correct documents. Either apply for the 90 day non-O visa from your Thai embassy before you travel, or wait until you arrive in Thailand. Then you'll want to go to your immigration office and ask them for their handout for either conversion to the 90 day non-O based on marriage if you don't get the visa from your Thai embassy, or for the handout for a 1-year marriage extension. They likely don't have separate handouts for men and women, but the requirements are the same except the money part doesn't apply to you.
hmm thank you for your answer, just one think I'm still concerned about is a ticket. If we would decide to make the visa stuff in Thailand, can I get a one wat ticket? I just saw another post with similar question and read that it is not recommended and that there are some onward tickets to get. Does it apply to my case as well?
that depends on if you get a visa before you travel or not. If not then legally you're required to have proof of a ticket out of Thailand within 60 days. Immigration almost never checks but you might have problems with your airline.
If you get it the visa first then it's not a requirement.
never believe anything about any article having to do with Thai government until it's posted in the royal gazette. Remember when ETA was going to start next month? So much for that
True. Like DTV and 60 days exceptions will start this week, tomorrow, soon, as soon as posible, tomorrow, maybe, next week, on monday, ohh, RIGHT NOW at 16:00!!!
