Hi everyone,

I’m a USA citizen and want to do the DTV Muay Thai visa . I would like to do it in South East Asia. Someone told me that in Laos they require the 500,000 thb to be in the account for a minimum of 6 months. Does anyone have the experience of any consulate in south East Asia that doesn’t require it to be in there for 6 months. I was told that in Australia it wasn’t required.

Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A USA citizen is inquiring about acquiring the DTV Muay Thai visa in Southeast Asia, particularly asking about bank balance requirements for Laos. Some responses indicate that while Laos initially required 500,000 THB to be in the account for 6 months, some consulates have accepted it for a shorter duration. Additionally, concerns were raised about the transition to an E-visa system in Southeast Asia, including Laos and Malaysia, affecting physical visa applications.

CAUTION . . . . be aware that all of Thailand's neighbour countries are switching from physical visa-application to the online E-visa system. I guess you cannot get an appointment from the Vientiane Thai embassy any more to this day. Same applies to Kuala Lumpur: they have stopped issung appointments and they don't serve walk-ins any more. The E-visa system is supposed to be introduced by October 8

what does it mean? Will it be possible to apply and receive a dtv visa online?

From my understanding, you could get rejected with walk-in's but would not pay / not loose the money from the application. But with online applications, it's possible to loose the money if you made a mistake in the application. There's a French guy who just recently had to pay again because of this issue.

yes, however I guess that the embassy or consulate which proceeds the application, might ask you for a proof that you are presently in their country of diplomatic residence

@Jacob ******
Laos are switching to e-visa eventually, but have not announced the date yet... (I haven't seen a date yet).

@Jacob ******
really? And they are switching to the E-visa system by October 8? Or maybe you are able to visit physically until the end of October. If I was you, I would inquire by email
Jacob *******
Are you saying they are switching to evisa? Or asking me if they are. I don't know, that's why I asked.
